Logical reasoning:

Deductive reasoning is a logical process in which a conclusion is

based on the logical conclusion of multiple reasons that are
generally assumed to be true.

Deductive reasoning is sometimes referred to as top-down logic.

Deductive reasoning relies on making logical premises and
basing a conclusion around those premises(reasons).

In simple terms: if x=y , y=z then z must be x

• Deductive reasoning: If all dogs are mammals, and all mammals have four
legs, then what can you conclude about a dog?

A. It has four legs.

B. It is a mammal.

C. It is not a mammal.

D. It cannot be determined.

The correct answer is A. This is a deductive reasoning question because it requires

you to use logic to reach a conclusion from a set of given premises. In this case, the
premises are "all dogs are mammals" and "all mammals have four legs." The
conclusion is "a dog has four legs."

What is inductive reasoning?

Inductive reasoning is a method of drawing conclusions by going

from the specific to the general. It's usually opposite to deductive
reasoning, where you proceed from general information to specific
conclusions. Inductive reasoning is also called inductive logic or
bottom-up reasoning.

• Inductive reasoning: If you flip a coin 10 times and it lands on heads 7 times,
what is the probability that it will land on heads on the next flip?

A. 0% B. 25% C. 50% D. 75%

12
Happy Learning Star 100 Thinking Skills Practice Questions as 10 by 10

What's the difference between inductive and deductive

reasoning? Inductive reasoning is a bottom-up approach, while
deductive reasoning is top-down. Inductive reasoning takes you from the
specific to the general, while in deductive reasoning, you make
inferences by going from general premises to specific conclusions
