- The codes used in the commercial ad are technical, written and symbolic. On its technical
code, the lightning effects and camera techniques are shown in the commercial ad. On its
symbolic code, the ad used the leaves images which symbolized that the product contains

2. How were the codes used in constructing the message of this tv ad?
-Through words, illustrations and symbols, the codes were used to further explain and describe
the product or the object being portrayed on the commercial ad. In addition, the codes were also
used to convinced consumers to buy the product and to target the products at specific
audiences.
3. How is understanding of the technical and symbolic codes contribute to media and
information literacy?
-Understanding the technical and symbolic codes contribute to media and information literacy as
it enables every individual to understand the ways in which information and messages can be
conveyed. Furthermore, it enables every individual to interpret information or ideas from media
and other information providers. Simply, the contribution of these codes to media and
information literacy are the ways to easily convey a message which creates meaning.

1.What codes and conventions were used in this movie poster to suggest the genre of the film?
- In this movie poster, it used symbolic, technical and written code as well as conventions to
suggest the genre of the film. It used written codes in the film title, list of celebrities, release
date, production company, and also a website. It also used symbolic code in showing the
emotions of the characters through their body language and expressions. Basic camera shots
and technique, the close up shot to be specific, are also shown in the movie poster. Looking at
the movie poster that used codes and conventions, I can say that the genre of the film includes
thriller and action.
2. How the characters’ dressed up and posing suggest message to the audience?
- Looking at how the characters dressed up and posting, I think the movie contains intensive
action scenes which convey the message to the audience that the movie could be full of
suspense, action, drama and particularly a thrilling movie.
3. How the color scheme used in the poster add impact to its overall meaning?
- The color scheme used in the movie poster add impact to its overall meaning as it suggests
the genre of the film and it highlights the mood of the movie which attracts the interests of the
viewers or audiences.
