Day 1

This is our first day of our work immersion at the Philippine Coast Guard, located in Aparri,
Cagayan. Sir Marestela taught us how to form a line (a square of a platoon). We attended the flag
ceremony, and we were taught how to dismiss after the flag ceremony. Afterwards, we
introduced ourselves to the officials. Then, Sir Tolento discussed the five PGS core functions:
1. ) Maritime Safety, 2.) Marine Environmental Protection, 3.) Maritime Search and Rescue, 4.)
Maritime Security, and 5.) Maritime Law Enforcement. We also made a Valentine's heart.

Day 2

This is our second day of work immersion. Sir Elle discussed the Area of Responsibility (AOR).
After the discussion, Sir Elle instructed us to make a reaction paper about the area of
responsibility, and he let us choose one topic and explain it. These were the options that he
tackled: 1) information drive (Paalala sa mga Mangingisda), 2) SSEN, 3) RSEI, 4) Baywatch, 5)
coastal clean-up, 6) mangrove planting, 7) port monitoring, 8) foot and mobile patrol, 9)
seaborne patrol, 10) security and assistance, 11) PAC, and 12) SAR.

Day 3

This is our third day of our work immersion. In the morning, we took a test about what Sir Elle
discussed yesterday, and after our test, we helped the coast guards in their work, such as cleaning
inside the Philippine Coast Guard Office and surroundings, fixing things, etc. After we finished
helping, we rested for a while, and they introduced us to one of their highest-ranking members,
Ma’am Paet. In the afternoon, Sir Elle discussed the parts of the boat motor and taught us the
purpose of each part of it. After Sir's demonstration, we formed a line to do calisthenics. We
jogged to the park, then jogged around and did calisthenics there.

Day 4

This is our third day of our work immersion. In the morning, they taught us how to handle a K9.
We learned that there are different jobs that K9s have, such as in drugs, bombs, and searching for
the dead or people buried due to earthquakes or typhoons. In the afternoon, Sir Coast Guard John
Lloyd talked about the seaman course. He taught us about the aluminum boat and its engine
parts; he personally showed us all the parts and demonstrated how to operate it. After the
discussion, he instructed us to do calisthenics or exercise. Coast Guard calisthenics is an
important part of the training of Coast Guard members, strengthening their body and
conditioning abilities. It consists of exercises such as push-ups, sit-ups, squats, and others that
improve their physical health and ability. In the afternoon, Sir Cañones was our next speaker. He
gave a lesson about the Philippine Coast Guard and Maritime Search and Rescue (MARSAR),
but he mainly focused on search and rescue. As an immersion student, I learned a lot of
information regarding search and rescue. I learned the importance of responding to accidents and
about the Seven Core Units. The Seven Core Units consist of: 1. Search and Rescue (SAR) 2.
Port State Control Center (PSC) 3. Aids to Navigation Service (ANS) 4. Radio Station (RSU) 5.
Vessel Safety Service Unit (VSSU) 6. Navigational Safety Service Unit (NSSU) 7. Creation
Safety Enforcement Unit (RSEU). These core units form the foundation of the MARSAF
framework, guiding maritime organizations in promoting a culture of safety and ensuring the
well-being of crew members, passengers, and the marine environment.

Day 5

This is our fifth day of our work immersion. In the morning, we helped with sanding and mixing
cement. CG Sir Rubio tackled weaponry maintenance training; he taught us how to use the gun
correctly and what the parts of the gun are. They showed us a 9mm caliber pistol gun, and this is
how it works: 1. Single or double action 2. Recall-operated 3. Semi-automatic 4. Magazine fed 5.
Short barrel. In the afternoon, CG Sir Siralio continued to discuss our topic. He demonstrated
how to take it apart and put the parts back on the gun. CG Sir Gayda, the one holding the gun,
was the one who showed us how to remove the part of the gun like ACE N 21-22. They also told
us what the parts of the gun were and to check the gun first before handling it for our safety.
They also showed us how to take apart and put back a sniper gun.

Day 6

This is our sixth day of our work immersion. We attended the flag ceremony with other schools
and coast guards. Afterwards, they assigned us to Dappa, a boat transportation terminal, with
Coast Guard Sir Bergonia and Sir Bogaring to assist the passengers who got off the motor boat
and observed the K9 conduct penaling. And next, Sir Coast Guard Lazaro taught us about
cleanliness and why it is forbidden to throw garbage anywhere, especially in the river. In the
afternoon, we assisted the passengers on the motor boat again and watched for the pi-pil-ups.
After, we returned to the coast guard station, and they dismissed us.

Day 7

This is our seventh day of our work immersion. In the morning, Sir Coast Guard was teaching us
how to use the foot, and the squad was also having a practice. In the afternoon, Sir Coast Guard
Valdez gave a lesson about marine environmental protection. He tackled the nine types of marine
pollution, and these are: 1. Nutrients 2. Pathogens 3. Persistent Toxins 4. Radioactive Waste 5.
Oil Pollution 6. Plastic 7. Alien Species 8. Thermal 9. Sediments. Following this, Sir Lazaro also
taught about marine environmental protection. And these were the scopes of his presentation:

Legal Instruments and Institutional Protocols

PCG's Role in Marine Environmental Protection:

1. Prevention
2. Enforcement
3. Laboratory Analysis (Research and Development)
4. Response Capabilities

Thereafter, we cleaned the room, and they dismissed us.

Day 8

This is our eighth day of our work immersion. In the morning, they assigned me as the platoon
leader. They again instructed us to go to Dappa. Afterwards, we passed our reaction paper to Sir
Lazaro; we went back to the coast guard station, and I was the lead for the dismissed crowd. In
the afternoon, we had a formation, and then we had a lesson with Sir Angeles, Sir Tique, and Sir
Tordil. Our lesson was about the basic training of tying, and then they let us demonstrate how to
tie. These are the kinds of tying: 1. Overhand knot 2. Figure 8 knots 3. Hitch Knot 4. Square
Knot 5. Single-sheet bend 6. Double-sheet bend 7. Seventh Timber Hitch Knot 8. Harness knot
9. Butterfly knot 10. Bowline knot: 11. Sheep shank Knot 12. Monorope Knot. Next, I led again
for the crowd to be dismissed, and when I finished, I reported to Sir Coast Guard PO2 Avisilia,
and then I was dismissed, but we stayed for a while to help clean the surroundings, and we
removed the rocks inside the workers bedroom.

Day 9

This is our ninth day of our work immersion. In the morning, we did our platoon formation, and
we dismissed the group. And then, we practiced knotting because Sir Coast Guard Tordil
instructed us to have an actual demonstration activity in knotting and tying. After that,we had
another activity with 5 groups. In the afternoon, Sir Reymond and the group went to Toran,
where the ship was located. We went around taking pictures, and we went to the river. They
showed us what to do and the proper ways to rescue with all the Coast Guards led by Sir
Maristela. And then, we returned to the station and gathered. Sir Maristela interviewed us about
what we had learned from what they demonstrated, and then the group was dismissed.

Day 10

This is the tenth and last day of our work immersion in the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG). We
had a clean-up drive activity on the beach together with the Coast Guards. Then, since it was our
last day, we cooked and prepared foods for our boodle fight with all the Coast Guards at the
station. We said our goodbyes, and then they dismissed us.
