1. ENGLISH CLASS OBSERVATION

Preparation:
• Identify an English class session to observe. This could be in
SD/SMP/SMA/University level.
• Seek permission from the teacher or instructor in advance to observe the class.
• Familiarize yourself with the learning objectives, teaching materials, and any
specific instructions provided by the teacher.

Observation:
• Attend the English class session at the scheduled time.
• Take notes during the observation. Pay attention to the theories you’ve been
learning from our 1-7 meetings, such as:
• Describing Language: For example assess the level of English proficiency
demonstrated by both the teacher and students, etc. 100
• Describing Learners: Characteristics, Learning Style, Observe how students
engage with the lesson. Are they actively participating, asking questions, or
answering prompts? Etc.
• Describing Teachers: Characteristics, Roles, Rapports, etc.
• Choosing and Using Teaching Resources: What teaching aids or materials are
used? Are they effective in enhancing learning?e, etc.
• Teaching principles & methods: How does the teacher deliver the lesson? Is it
interactive, lecture-based, or a combination?, etc.
• Overall atmosphere: Note the overall ambiance of the classroom and its
impact on learning.

Evaluation:
• After the observation, reflect on your notes and observations.
• Write a detailed evaluation report covering the following points:

SOAL UJIAN TENGAH SEMESTER (UTS)

o Describe the lesson (warm-up, main activity, closing activity, etc).


Where did you observe the class, at what level and so on.
o Strengths: Identify the strengths the lesson delivered by the teacher.
o Areas for improvement: Highlight any areas where there is room for
improvement, such as enhancing student participation, incorporating
more interactive activities, or improving language proficiency.
o Suggestions: Provide constructive suggestions for the teacher or
instructor based on your observations.
o Overall assessment: Summarize your overall assessment of the English
class session.
o Analysis of the theories and what you see in the observation.

SUBMISSION:
• Don’t forget to attach pictures from the observation after the observation report.
• Save and submit the file in .pdf format to E-Knows.
• You also can add other references to support your analysis. Do not forget to
include the references.
• Make sure that there are no typos, punctuation and capitalization problems, and
grammatical errors.
• Deadline: May 7, 2024 at 23:59 WIB.

NOTE
Ensure that your observation is conducted respectfully and without causing
disruption to the class. Maintain professionalism and confidentiality in your
observations and evaluation.
