INDIVIDUAL DEVELOPMENT PLAN

An Individual Development Plan (IDP) is a roadmap that guides professional growth at any career stage.
VALUES
IDENTIFICATION
Whether you’re just starting your journey or a seasoned professional, an IDP is a vital tool. It helps identify
what gives you purpose, your strengths and any limiters, and defines a plan to grow in the areas of focus. It’s
not just about ‘climbing the ladder’ – it’s about lifelong learning, adaptability, and achieving success and
fulfillment in your career.

This resource will guide you through the steps to create your Individual Development Plan (IDP) by:
• Determining what you find rewarding (value, meaning, mastery, autonomy)
• Identifying your strengths and any limiters
• Selecting 1-3 areas of focus for your development

Once you’ve drafted your IDP, schedule some time with your manager to talk through it. Align on your areas of
