PASSIVE VOICE

A. Form:
S + be + V3 (place/purpose + by O + time)

Ex: The book was written by Mark Twain.

B. How to change active voice into passive voice:
Active: S V O

Passive: S BE + V3 by + O
Cách đổi:
1. Xác định chủ ngữ, động từ, tân ngữ và thì của động từ trong câu chủ động.
2. Lấy tân ngữ trong câu chủ động xuống làm chủ từ ở câu bị động.
3. Thêm động từ tobe và chia sao cho phù hợp với thì ở câu chủ động và chủ từ mới ở
câu bị động.
4. Lấy động từ chính trong câu chủ động đặt ở dạng past participle (V3).
5. Lấy chủ từ trong câu chủ động xuống làm tân ngữ đặt sau BY.
6. Những bộ phận khác thì ghi lại bình thường.
TENSES ACTIVE PASSIVE

Chú ý:
 Nếu chủ từ trong câu chủ động là : I, you, he, he it, we, they, people, something,
someone, somebody thì có thể bỏ “by O” trong câu bị động.
Ex:
1. John delivers the newspapers every morning.
 The newspapers are delivered by John every morning.
2. My mother wrote that letter.

Chú ý:
 Nếu chủ từ trong câu chủ động là: no one, nobody, nothing hoặc No+danh từ thì khi
đổi sang câu bị động phải chuyển thành câu phủ định.
Ex: No one has cleaned this house for a long time.

 Nếu câu chủ động là câu hỏi:
Ex: Did you do your homework last night?
