About SHS Work Immersion

One of the course requirements for SHS graduation is Work Immersion. A Grade 12
student has to undergo this in an industry related to his/her postsecondary goal. This
is a venue for the students to be exposed to and become familiar with work-related
environment to their field of specialization to enhance their skills and competence.

Work Immersion serves as an eye-opener for students about the reality in life.
Understanding different preparatory topics on Work Immersion helps them to be ready
in entering the manpower world. As future contributors, it is important for them to
determine their skills to help strengthen and enhance or acquire skills that they already
possess or need to possess. This will give them a great advantage in looking for possible
job positions.

To prepare the students to meet the needs and challenges of employment of higher
education, the following are the goals of Work Immersion:
1. gain relevant and practical industrial skills under the guidance of industry
experts and workers;
2. appreciate the importance and application of the principles and theories taught
in school;
3. enhance their technical knowledge and skills;
4. enrich their skills in communications and human relations; and
5. develop good work habits, attitudes, appreciation and respect for work.

In Work Immersion, students and parents are expected to attend an orientation

which discusses important matters that they, the school, and work immersion partners
need to agree on such as:
1. expected behavior of the students or work ethics, safety in the workplace,
workplace rights and responsibilities, confidentiality in the workplace, effective
conflict resolution and teamwork skills;
2. work immersion rules and regulations; and
3. terms and conditions of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA).

Important:
This portfolio will serve as your journal all throughout this Work Immersion process.
Kindly handle this with utmost care because you will be assessed based on the inputs
that you put in this portfolio. This will be submitted to your adviser at the end of the
course. Make sure that all pages have been appropriately filled out with what is being
asked from you and your parents/guardian. Keep it clean and crumple-free.

We understand the importance of this portfolio. (Naiintindihan namig ang kahalagahan
