Essay on Reading The Book of Revelation
The Book of Revelation, the final book of the Christian biblical canon, is perhaps one of
the most complex and polyvalent biblical texts accessible to modern readers, and has
been the source of many differing and divergent interpretations and readings. This is due
in large part to the richly detailed language and imagery the author has placed within the
book as well as the vast array of content. Both of these features function within the text
to produce a book that is extremely difficult to describe within the traditional literary
conceptions of genre and structure, which, as we shall see, feed into the complexity and
multiple interpretations that can be drawn from it. With all this in mind, it will be the
purpose of this essay to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In contrast to this theory, a structure based on the series of seven visions is another
prominent understanding. Argued especially by Farrar and Collins, this theory lays out a
structure split into eight segments , viewing number seven, used by the author of
Revelation very strongly, as the key to understanding the structure. Critics, however,
point out the unnumbered sections as a dubious aspect of this theory. As such, the
structure of Revelation is a complex matter that is still debated widely within scholarship,
with no solution offered thoroughly without difficulty.

Closely related to the structure of the Book of Revelation, and one of the primary causes
behind the difficulty in determining structure, the content of the text is multifarious and
deep in meaning and imagery. Primarily, content centres around the letters sent to seven
churches, the extrapolation of John s visions of Heaven, the remainder of the series of
seven , and finally the defeat of Babylon and establishment of the New Jerusalem. At a
deeper level, however, and functioning within the genre that modern scholarship has
come to call apocalyptic , the book of Revelation primarily mediates visions of heavenly
truth. Within this purpose, we see in Revelation a great deal of highly symbolic language,
often borrowed from the Hebrew Scriptures and particularly the prophetic

Analysis Of The Poem The Day I Die
Rak czy nie Rak (Cancer or Not) Oskar chodź tutaj szybko! my mom called in Polish
from the living room; as I was playing upstairs with my power ranger toys. She was
yelling for me to come down for something that I, being the usual four year old boy that I
was, pretended I didn t hear. After about a minute of her pleading I felt bad, because I
could sense a tone of sorrow in her voice. This next scene I will remember truly until the
day I die. Down the creaky stairs I went cheerful as ever, but my cheery expression
suddenly turned to total mortification. I saw many people I knew; my uncles and aunts,
grandmas and grandpas, but also others whom I assumed to be distant relatives. However
what really struck me was something totally different. I looked to my left and heard the
slow ticking of the clock, and then I saw her when I turned my head. My loving Grandma
Halinka laid on our makeshift sofa bed, white as could be, and her breaths coming out as
if each one could be her last. She called for and motioned me over but I broke into tears
and fell apart as it only took a second for me to realize that there was no way Babcia was
going to live another day. Everybody started shushing me, whispering to me that it was
disrespectful, but I didn t care and ran upstairs. My caring cousin Paulina (whom I
consider my sister to this day for all that she did for me growing up) did her best to
comfort me and insisted that I go downstairs and spend the time I have left with my
grandma but I
Toxic Waste And Hazardous Waste
In the world that we live in today, it is unfortunate that we hear about people being
exposed to hazardous waste and think nothing of it. When any person is exposed to
hazardous waste it is a serious situation and it should not be ignored. Any type of contact
with the waste could also expose many people to life threating health problems. In this
paper I will discuss what hazardous waste is defined as, those who have been effected by
it and the health problems that will come with being exposed to hazardous waste.
Exposure to hazardous waste is dangerous because it may lead to severe health problems.
Health problems that are related to expose of hazardous waste are birth defects,
reproductive issues, respiratory conditions, heart diseases and most times cancer. There
are many different types of hazardous waste and in some cases it can be wastewater from
factories that gets into the water supply and food supple or even waste created by nuclear
power plants, which by far creates the most dangers types of hazardous wastes.
Hazardous waste could be defined as any industrial by product, especially from the
manufacture of chemicals that is destructive to the environment or dangerous to the
health of people or animals. (Dictionary.com, n.d) Similarly, according to the
Environmental Protection Agency, hazardous waste is waste that is dangerous or
potentially harmful to our health or the environment. Hazardous wastes can be liquids,
solids, gases, or sludges. They can be
Shelby Farms Park
Located in Memphis, Shelby County in Tennessee, Shelby Farms Park is arguably the
most expansive urban parks in the United State. The park covers an area of 4, 500 acres
and harbors some of the most unique natural and manmade features in the country. From
natural forests, lakes, wetlands, and grasslands, the park provides natural habitat for
many wildlife and vegetation than any urban located park in America. The park traces its
history to the 19th century humanist reformer Frances Wright. The Nashoba Commune
that he founded forms parts of the current Shelby Farm. Initially, the firm was used as a
penal farm under the management of Shelby County Jail. However, since opening it for
public recreational purpose in the 1970s, the park has undergone ... Show more content

The park is home to an array of wildlife; over two hundred bird species can be found in
the park, bobcats, reptiles, deer, minks, reptiles, beavers, muskrats, foxes, and squirrels

in the sites are the buffalos. Introduced by the former Mayor Bill Morris with an aim of
giving the community access to living history, buffalos have come to be one of the main
icons in the park. A significant number of individuals visit Shelby Farm to enjoy the
presence of these animals. Vegetation in the park is very diverse. From meadows, pine
wood forests, a large number of cypress, red oak, ash, elm, maple, sweet gum, tupelo
gum, sycamore, hackberry, and white oak among many others, the vegetation in the park
interact together to create one of the best attraction sites in the United States. The
connections to allow pedestrians to enjoy the abundance of nature in the park are widely
available. Connections such as the Shelby Farms Green line, Wolf River Greenway, and
the Wolf River Pedestrian Bridge have dramatically increased access to various part of
the park for pedestrians. The connections have also provided an opportunity to bikers to
explore the natural resource in the Park. In fact, Bicycles are the most popular option that
feeds Shelby Farms Park. The Greenline has played an active role in opening the park to
the community and visitors. In addition, the Shelby Farms Park has miles of open pasture
and wooded trails that pedestrians and horse riders can explore. The Park has Horse
stable operated in conjunction with external investors. The Horse Stables offer one of the
best opportunities to explore the landscape and enjoy some of the best sceneries in the

Arts Experience For this semester s experience of art, I chose the aesthetic of opera. It
was a rendition of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart s Cosi Fan Tutte. This is an opera in the
language of Italian, so Cosi Fan Tutte roughly translates to English as Women are like
that . Written in a time of grace, elegance and beauty, Cosi Fan Tutte was written at the
height of music history the classical period. This opera uses a aria and recitative structure
meaning the singers adopt rhythms of speech between arias (a solo voice performing a
long song). The musical phrases balanced each other equally as they were perfectly
crafted. Cosi Fan Tutte was first performed on 26 January 1790 ( Program given at the
event). This opera, Cosi Fan Tutte was composed in a time of scientific, social
experiments and in the era of the classical period, but however, the whole set of the opera
where the action takes place was a strikingly simple set. It was not extravagant and costly
as used in most other stage performances of this scale. It was imaginative, functional and
extremely realistic. The glamour, tone, melody, and unabashed emotion in the voices of
the characters was in the foreground and highlighted because of this natural and simple
set. Since this was first performed late 18th century, the costumes designed are in this
style. The costumes gradually get less lavish and it becomes individual to the character.
The costumes portray
Iris Oh Research Paper
Iris Oh is a 19 year old college woman who lately has not been well and her parents are
worried about her. Iris was born in Seoul, South Korea and when she was 4 months old,
she and her parents with her two brothers decided to move to Los Angeles, California.
Growing up people would make fun of her weight and would call her Little Pea because
she was round and chubby like a little pea. She told her therapist that she hated being
called Little Pea because it made her feel bad about her weight struggle. When she
entered school the students would make fun of her for her eyes and her weight. In school,
her classmates would call her hippo. She would always go home crying because of the
jokes and mother would tell her to stop being a baby. Iris
Pandetarianism And The Beliefs Of Pastafarianism
It is easy to crown Pastafarianism as the king of all ridiculous churches because there
surely cannot be a more absurd church. Pastafarianism, or the religion of the Flying
Spaghetti Monster, is a church that believes that a literal flying spaghetti monster created
the world. If you think that is bizarre, then brace yourself. That is just the tip of the
iceberg. Apparently, adherents called Pastafarians also believe that human beings are
descendants of pirates, who were the first human beings. Ridiculous, right? In many
people s opinion, this religion is clearly a mockery of Christianity taken too far, but there
are those who claim that Pastafarianism is a legitimate religion. Anyway, in the sea of
ridiculous churches, Pastafarianism only scratches the surface.

Most Ridiculous Churches: Nuwaubian Nation

Nuwaubian Nation was a church that could only be best described as a cult. Its founder,
Dwight Young, started the church in the late 1960s. The church s beliefs were diverse,
ranging from black supremacy to UFOs and conspiracies like the Illuminati to Egyptian
worship. In its onset, it bore some similarities to Islam, but gradually, the church s beliefs
began to diverge into the pandemonium it is today. To further solidify its status as a
church, Young wrote 450 booklets. He claimed to be a messianic founder prophet of his
religion and would go as far as proclaiming divine status. Consequently, he even created
a Savior s day to honor himself.

His church also bordered on

Sanisera Research Paper
Sanisera (Menorca) Sanitja bay, located on the northern coast of the island of Menorca, is
home to a Roman fort and Sanisera. The bay was originally only open to the Roman
military but later opened to trades around the time Sanisera was established. Unlike
Pollentia, Sanisera was one of the only Roman sites not constructed on top of an
indigenous site. The lack of modern construction over Sanisera has made it possible to
undertake an extensive excavation of both sites. The first phase of excavations focused
primarily on the fort with some surveys of the city, the current phase of the excavation of
Sanitja began in 1992 (Sa Nitja 1996). Throughout both excavation phases, there has also
been a lot of focus on the various shipwrecks in the bay.
