Work Values Inventory

This document is a work values inventory to help students identify the values that are most important to them in their future careers. It provides lists of core values, preferred work environments, preferred interactions with coworkers, and preferred work activities. Students are asked to rate each value as always important, sort of important, or not important. After completing the inventory, students review their always important values and choose their top five to develop their work values profile. Values are an important part in the career decision-making process. It is important to


select career options which best fit your values. The list below will help you to
identify those values that you think will be important to you in your work. Your work
values may change as work situations change. It is important to evaluate your work
values often.

Read each value in the table below and decide if it is always important to you, sort of
important or not important to you. Place an “X” in the appropriate box. The
definition is there to help you think about the value.
