My Heart Leaps Up / The Rainbow

William Wordsworth – (1770-1850)

Wordsworth expresses a number of the several features of Romanticism: a
love of nature, the relationship between the natural world and the individual
self.
The importance of childhood in making the poet the man he becomes,
memorably expressed by Wordsworth’s statement that ‘The child is the
father of the man’.

THE RAINBOW by WILLIAM WORDSWORTH

SUMMARY || The Rainbow POEM summary
My heart leaps up when I behold
   A rainbow in the sky:
So was it when my life began;
So is it now I am a man;
So be it when I shall grow old,
   Or let me die!
The Child is father of the Man;
And I could wish my days to be
Bound each to each by natural piety.
The theme of the poem The Rainbow by William
Wordsworth – My heart Leaps up Poem
In this poem” The Rainbow “  William Wordsworth wants to
say that whenever he sees a rainbow the excitement Rises
and his hearts become so excited or happy seeing the
rainbow in the sky.

It was the same in his childhood days, the same at present

and will give the same happiness in the future. He does not
want to leave spend a day without the same Rainbow, which
has it gives him immense pleasure and shows his love and
attraction towards nature love.

That’s why in the last line the word PIETY has been used.

Also, he says that “The child is father of man” which is a

contradictory or paradox statement but justifies on the basis
of the fact that childhood day’s views and activities shape a
person future and remains with them forever.

This complete poem is a reflection of love and affection

towards nature and its Beauty and thus named as “The
Rainbow” by William Wordsworth.
