APPOINTMENT SCHEDULING 25 Marks (Value: 20%)


 
Deadline: Wednesday November16, 2022 (10% deduction for late assignment).
 

Read the Instruction Carefully:

1. It is one day schedule for Tuesday November 15, 2022.


2. Appointment times in 15 minutes intervals (stream scheduling); double booking can be
done for two minor assessments.
3. Consultation and complete examinations 30 minutes unless specified more than 30
minutes.
4. Patient name and telephone and reason for Appointment must be reflected in your
schedule.
5. Doctor name: Dr. Plunkett
6. You need to schedule patients below first; explain clearly the reason for change,
sufficient room is available at the bottom of the next page for any remarks.

You must triage each patient; think of which patient should be scheduled first. 
Explain which patient can be scheduled in future?    
 
Schedule the following:
 
1) Dr. Plunkett is being fitted to see an ophthalmologist at 8:30 a.m. He has asked you to
allow one and a half hours for his appointment and travelling time.
2) Dr. Plunkett is scheduled for hospital at 4:00 p.m.
3) Dr. Plunkett will be out for lunch from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m.

Factor in these unexpected cases:
 

1. At 9:45 a.m., Mrs. D'Angelo calls. She has been throwing up for 24 hours, (phone
747-8399).
2. At 11:15 a.m., Paula Gasperi calls to say she is too ill to come to the office and is
going to emergency at Civic Hospital. Make the necessary notation in your
appointment book. What arrangements would you make for her? (Write your
answer on the back of the appointment schedule.)
3. Gail Adams called at 9:00 a.m. to cancel her appointment. She did not make
another appointment.
4. RENA FISK CALLED AT 1110. SHE HAS A VERY BAD SORE THROAT AND A
TEMPERATURE (748-6664).

Remarks/ Explanation

o There are patients who cancelled their appointment because of some reasons. I
make a note in their EMR that patient has cancelled the appointment for the
record and as our office policy they may charge for missed appointments.

o There are patients who are in waiting list where they call in the same day
appointment. As Mrs. D’Angelo and Rena Fisk’s situation needed an immediate
treatment and check-up, they can be inserted in the appointment who had been
cancelled.

o Alison Johnston is scheduled has been moved on the next day because of fully
booked schedule and been schedule early to accommodate her 90 mins
consultation

o Used the double booking to accommodate all the patients in that day.
