marketplace and import it into your system(s).

1. Download App Factory off the Pega marketplace here.

2. Log into Dev Studio in your Pega environment.
Note: If you have multiple environments, log into the environment that will be your Development
environment. You will be able to export these settings later in the installation process.

3. Open the import wizard (Configure > Application > Distribution > Import).
4. Select the App Factory zip file (Local file > Choose file) downloaded in Step 1.

settings in each step.
6. Proceed past the zip file details, valid database connections and schema changes.
7. Apply schema changes by clicking Next and advance to rule import.
8. Open the AppFactoryAdmin, AppFactorySetup operator records.
a. Find the operators by going to Records > Organization > Operator ID.
b. Go to the Security tab and uncheck the “Disable Operator” box. Save both
operator records.
9. Save as the AppFactorySetup operator as a named operator for yourself.
10. Log off.

Set up wizard
App Factory comes with a set up wizard to help you easily get started. Follow the steps below
to run through this wizard. The wizard will configure the expected application stack.

1. Login to your Pega environment with the credentials created in Importing App Factory
Step 9.
a. Template credentials - Username: AppFactorySetup, Password: Installation123!
2. You will be asked to update the password for this operator. Please keep note of the
password you choose.
3. Once logged in, you will see a page with some default information about App Factory.
Press continue to move past this screen.
4. The next page will ask you to provide a name for your reuse layer. Enter the name and
continue.
Note: You may select an existing application if you already have one. You may also update this
configuration later.

5. The final page will ask you to provide a name for your organization’s App Factory
application. This application is used to make customizations in default App Factory.
6. Press “Create application” to continue.
7. Application access will be given to the current operator. You may add/create other
operators but have one valid operator to start.

App Factory set up is now complete!

To enable some of the App Factory optional features switch to the new application by using
the “Go to app” button. You can enable/disable these features at any time. Jump to Step #2 in
Feature configuration.

Feature configuration
There are several features that you may want to be customized, changed or turned on/off. A
configuration landing page has been provided to quickly and easily set these configuration
options in addition to validating your settings have been set up correctly. These configurations
changes and steps may be repeated whenever a configuration change is needed.

1. Log in to your organization’s App Factory.

2. Launch the governors portal. If you are in Dev studio, launch the portal by Launch web
interface > Governors portal.
3. Navigate to App Factory config in the left navigation menu.

Auto application provisioning

If you do not wish to use this feature, leave the settings empty. The settings will be validated
after you save. If any of them fail only because you have not set up App Factory in the other
environments, save your configurations and see Export settings/new environments.

1. Select application provisioning from the menu.

2. Provide the Target URL. This is the URL where the applications should be provisioned.
The format of the URL should be something like https://mydev /prweb.
3. Move to Authentication. NOTE: Authentication comes pre-configured but if you have
changed the password to AppFactoryAdmin operator, the new password must be
provided here.
4. Move to Built on setup.
a. If the Set up wizard was used, Built on application and Built on skin will be
preconfigured.
b. If not used, provide the Built on application. Built on skin may also be provided
but is not required. Follow the on screen instructions for formatting.
5. Click the Save button at the top of the screen to save these settings.
6. Ensure all the validations under each configuration pass.
a. If they fail only because you have not set up App Factory in the other
environments, save your configurations and see Export settings/new
environments.

Auto pipeline provisioning

If you do not wish to use this feature, leave the settings empty. The settings will be validated
after you save. If any of them fail only because you have not set up App Factory in the other
environments, save your configurations and see Export settings/new environments.
As of App Factory 08.06.01, Deployment Manager versions 4.8 and 5.1+ are both supported
for auto pipeline provisioning.

1. This feature requires Deployment Manager to be set up. If you have not set up
Deployment Manager, go to the Pega Marketplace component to install it.
a. Be sure to follow the installation instructions carefully. The most common
misconfiguration we see is DevOps foundation missing from the application
stack. Both your reuse layer and your organization’s App Factory should be built
on top of DevOps foundation in all App Factory environments.
2. Select Dev Ops from the menu.
3. Check “Enable pipeline auto-provisioning”.
4. Go to your Deployment Manager.
5. Create a new pipeline with the settings for your organization.
a. Ensure this pipeline is working before continuing!
6. Return to App Factory. Provide the pipeline key.
7. App Factory can automatically create/update Deployment Manager operators when a
pipeline is provisioned so that the application owner has the rights to execute the new
pipeline. If this option is disabled, operator updates must be handled manually in
Deployment Manager. Note that this option is only available for Deployment Manager
v5.1 and later. To enable, check “Manage Deployment Manager pipeline operators”.
8. Save the settings using the Save button.
9. Ensure all the validations under each configuration pass.
a. If they fail only because you have not set up App Factory in the other
environments, save your configurations and see Export settings/new
environments.
Collaboration settings
There are two independent features in the Collaboration settings. These features are the
Default Space and the default collaboration members. These features can be used independent
of one another.

Default Space
1. Go to Spaces in the left navigation.
2. Create a space for general information about your organizations App Factory.
a. Pin useful content that your users may need.
3. Go to App Factory config in the left navigation.
4. Select Collaboration from the menu.
5. Select the Default space from the autocomplete.

import them into other environments. We recommend keeping the configuration settings in
sync in each of your App Factory environments.
