1
All-In-One Method—Demonstration Focus C/W

Explain what the all-in-one method is

To put all the ingredients in a bowl and mixing them.

What can this method be used to make?

Cakes, Bread.

When baking, why is it important to pre-heat the oven?

This is important because, for example, if you put a cake in the oven before it is hot,
it will not rise so much.

Why do you sieve the flour?

So that air can come into the flower so the cake will be fluffy and will rise.

What raising agent(s) does the all-in-one recipe use?

Baking powder.

What do you do once you’ve finished using the electric whisk?

You need to switch it off, unplug it, take the whisks out and wash them.

When putting the cake batter into the cake cases, what is it important to do?

Why?

You must be careful to put the cake batter directly into the cake cases because

otherwise, if it goes outside the cases, when it rises it will be hard to peel off.

2
All-In-One Method

How do you check to see if the cakes are cooked?

You can poke a knife into the cakes. If the knife is wet from the cake, it is not ready.

Describe the outcome of your cakes, using sensory descriptive words.

Tasted soft
Smelt sweet
Felt rough

If you made your cakes again, what would you do differently?

They were quite plain so I would probably put chocolate, blueberries or vanilla.
