The document outlines requirements for a semester project on designing a warehouse. Students are instructed to: 1. Model and analyze a roof truss using wind, self-weight and imposed loads. 2. Design truss members with appropriate sections. 3. Model the warehouse superstructure and analyze incorporating roof loads. 4. Design frame elements and propose beam and column sections. 5. Design welding connections for the roof truss. 6. Design bolt connections for the frame structure. Students are provided guidelines on group size, submission format, and evaluation criteria for both written reports and oral presentations.

SEMESTER PROJECT

Project Title: Design of ware house

Final Report Due Date: To be notice
1. Assuming that wind load analysis showed that the roof is subjected to a wind pressure
based on the analysis carried out by you in the course Structural Design (in addition
wind load calculate the self-weight and imposed service load on to the roof), carryout
the modelling and analysis of the roof truss shown in Figure1. (Use CSI SAP2000)
2. Design the truss members for the induced internal actions and provide suitable
Rectangular Hollow Sections (RHS) for group one, Square Hollow sections (SHS) for
group two and Angles for group three.
3. Model the warehouse superstructure based on the plan layouts provided at the
ground, intermediate and roof level. Carryout the analysis by incorporating the roof
loads from the roof truss analysis results. (Use CSI SAP2000).
4. Design the frame elements (beam and column) and propose suitable UB and UC
sections for the beam and column respectively.
5. Assuming the connection among the roof truss members to be of welding type,
design the connections accordingly.
6. Assuming the connection among the frame structure members to be of bolt
type, design the connections accordingly.

No. Considerations
1 All dimensions for the truss drawing are in ‘mm’
2 All dimensions for the plan layout drawings are in ‘m’
3 Use ES-EN-1993-3-2015 as Design Code
4 Use For Group-1-S235 Group-2-S275 Group-3-S355 as
characterized on ES-EN 1993-1-1-2015
