Result and Calculation: Experiment A: Determining Column Pressure Drop Power (KW) Boil-Up Rate (L/HR) Pressure Drop Degrees of Foaming RI

Experiment A measured the pressure drop and boiling rate of a column at different power levels. It found that pressure drop increased from 68 to 245 and boiling rate increased from 2.9 to 39.5 L/hr as power increased from 0.5 to 1.5 kW. Violent foaming occurred at powers over 1 kW. Experiment B measured the refractive index of mixtures with different concentrations of methylcyclohexane and toluene. It then calculated the volumes of each component needed for mixtures of 100%, 75%, 50%, 25%, and 0% methylcyclohexane based on keeping the total volume at 100 mL.
