Pros and Cons of Google Slides

Being not familiar with the Google Slides and the use of it and wondering if it is a
time and energy worth it to learn how it works. Here are some of the Pros and Cons of
“Google Slides.”

PROS
1. Google slides is FREE to users

 There aren't many powerful presentation apps

available that offer the same level of flexibility
and features as Google Slides while remaining
completely free to users. The ability to use
Google Slides for free makes it a go-to
presentation application for students, non-
profits, and other organizations that may not be
able to afford presentation software licenses.

2. Allows real time collaborations

 Google slides has the capability to provide
real-time collaboration on presentations with
other team members.Real-time collaboration
enables you as well as other team members to
prepare, edit, or even work on the same
presentation at the same time.  The
collaboration feature of Google slides is great
for real time editing compared to other
application used for doing slides.

3. There is no downloading required

 Most of the time, the common challenges
that users face when it comes to doing
presentation is when an application requires
downloading. You don't have to worry about
this if you're using Google Slides because it's
a web-based tool. There is no setup required,
and no downloading and running of heavy
software.Furthermore, Google Slides works
directly in a web browser, preventing your
computer from slowing down due to
overutilization of your computer's processing
power.
4. Slides are automatically saved
 Your presentation will be saved in the
cloud automatically. Any changes or edits you
make will be saved immediately. It is also
possible to undo and restore any changes you
have made. You don't have to worry about losing
the changes you made in the presentation slide
because your computer unexpectedly shuts down
when you use Google Slides. Your presentation is
automatically saved and accessible at all times.

5. Sharing presentation is easy

 If you use Google Slides, your
presentation is shared by providing a link to your
file. This means no more "Delivery Failed"
notices in your email due to the size of your
presentation, and you'll never have to wonder if
the intended stakeholder received the
presentation or not. When you share your Google
Slides slides with others, they always look the
same. The formatting and look and feel of your
presentation remain consistent regardless of who
or which computer you are using to open the slides.

CONS

1. Availability of limited themes

 Unfortunately, Google Slides provides its

users with a very limited collection of
themes. This is possibly one of the areas
where Google Slides should focus in the
future. However, you can easily overcome
this problem by using a Google Slides
presentation template. There are several
third-party providers of presentation
templates. However, you may have to pay
a small fee to gain access to these
templates.

2. Limited animations and transitions

 When it comes to animations and
transitions, Google Slide offers very few
options. This is also one of the main
reasons why when you open a
PowerPoint file in Google Slides, the
animation effects are lost. It is one of
those features that you will miss in
Google Slides, especially if you are
switching from another presentation app.
If you are creating presentations for the
first time in Google Slides, you may be
unaware of what you are missing.

3. Formatting loss when importing to Google slides

 The disadvantage is that when such

presentation files are imported into
Google Slides, the formatting is lost.
This means that you may lose some of
the animations or transitions, as well as
some of the fonts (if specialized fonts
are used) and a variety of other minor
details. One could argue that most
presentation applications face a similar
problem when importing a file format
from another software.

4. Lack of advanced features

 While Google Slides has some truly
innovative features, it falls short of
meeting the needs of advanced
presentation creators. For instance, if
you need to change the characteristics
of the images you're using in Google
Slides, you'll be disappointed by the
lack of options. The ability to create
unique shapes by combining or
subtracting shapes is also missing in
Google Slides. These are just a few of
the advanced features that Google
Slides lacks. However, such features
are mostly used by advanced designers
and may not be necessary for the majority of people.

5. Access to google account

 One of the major disadvantages of
Google Slides is that it requires a
Google account to access, and many
corporate organizations avoid giving
access to personal email accounts such
as Gmail for security reasons.Thus,
even if you were to use Google Slides,
but you work with a lot of large multi-
corporations, sharing Google Slides
with your clients may not work well
with them. However, if you are a
student or work in a workplace where access to Google Slides presentations is not
restricted, this disadvantage will not apply to you.
