Victim Impact Statement From Uncle of Ryan Kennedy
Victim Impact Statement From Uncle of Ryan Kennedy
I am Keith Knight, uncle of Ryan Chase Kennedy, brother-in-law of Raymond Kennedy, and
brother-in- law of Susan Kennedy.
To put into words the victim’s impact is very difficult to describe. For me, the true impact is the
future that will never be experienced. How would this unknown future unfold, be lived, and
experienced if Ryan, Bailey, and baby Lawson were still alive? Truly I and others have been
deprived of a future full of love, joy, life and endless opportunities. How would you define that
impact, that loss described in words that will never be lived with pictures that will never be
taken, and a future generation that will never continue. Daily I mourn the deaths of of Ryan,
Bailey and baby Lawson. To grasp the realization of finality - that they will never live on earth
again is painful, heartbreaking, beyond my comprehension!
Therefore, the heinous, selfish, and irresponsible actions of Shawn Lee Blitchington that lead to
their tragic deaths must be addressed sternly by you. A purposeful sentence must not just be for
punitive actions, but mostly to protect other people if Mr. Blitchington were to be given any
opportunity to drive intoxicated again. Furthermore, Mr. Blitchington showed no remorse after
his actions, in fact, his personal testimony was a complete compulsive lie to avoid any personal
responsibility. With his record of five DUI crimes, it is clear that he is a continuous danger to
society. Therefore I respectfully request that you sentence him to the maximum incarceration
allowed by law so that he will never, ever be allowed to victimize anyone again!
I ask, as a retired Law Enforcement Officer, how can someone have five DUI’s and not be given
a lengthy incarceration? Are we not victims of our own broken Criminal Justice System? Judge
Daniels, with your authority, it is up to you to do the right thing!
