A. Content Standard
The learner demonstrates understanding of ways to extract and condense information based on the library
sources.
B. Performance Standard
The learner transfers learning by using tools and mechanisms in locating library resources.
C. Learning Competencies
1. Get information from the different parts of the book and from general references in the library. (EN7SS-II-
d-1.3/1.4)
I. Objectives
At the end of the lesson the students should be able to:
a. Identify the parts of a book
b. Explain the purpose of each part of the book
c. Demonstrate understanding of the order of the parts of the book.
III. Procedure
A. Primary Activities
Prayer
Greetings
Checking of attendance
B. Review
Recall activity last meeting about card catalog.
C. Motivation
Sing and follow the steps from the video.
By group: Arrange the rumbled words. The first group to answer will be given points.
D. Activity
Each group will again arrange the pictures in order. And study each picture. Each
member will describe the picture they are holding. In every correct answer will be given 5
points.
E. Abstraction
Discuss the purpose of each part of a book.
Have the students explain the importance of studying the parts of a book.
F. Application
By group: “The Bookish Explores Game”
Instructions:
1. The students will get information from the different parts of the book.
2. Given the following pieces of information, tell the part of a book they will use to access the
information.
3. Choose from the word pool provided.
4. Twist: Each of the member of the group will choose numbers 1-10, and make it sure that
that they will sit according to their numbers. Each member will be the one to answer the
item base on the number chosen.
5. A member will raise his/her answer. To catch up the attention of everyone while raising
their answer they need to make a pose according to their discipline as an SPA student.
6. Each correct answer will be given 2 points. And 1 point for the pose. The score earned by
the member will be the score of the group.
IV. Assessment
(1-10.) Identify the parts of a book being ask in each item.
V. Assignment
The students will bring any type of books next meeting that has all its parts.
VI. Remarks
Unfortunately, I spent so much time on the presentation stage of the lesson that we had to rush through the
other activities.
