LEAVE POLICY AND PROCEDURE

1 PURPOSE:

Al-Rawia is committed to ensuring the health and wellbeing of its staff and
recognize their rights and entitlement to leave as outlined in this policy. Leave is
viewed as one of a range of mechanisms available to staff to manage a flexible life
work balance.

2 TYPES OF LEAVE:

 Earned Leave
 Sick Leave
 Short Leave
 Maternity Leave
 Unpaid Leave

Earned Leave 1.5 Monthly Can be carried forward, an employee


can avail only 1.5 leaves in a month.
Short Leave 2 Monthly Cannot be carried forward (2 hours
only)
Sick Leave 05 Bi – annual Cannot be carried forward
Maternity Leave 60 Annual Maximum Twice in the employment

3 APPLICABILITY:

 The policy is applicable for all permanent employees.


 Employees are not entitled for any leaves during probation period.

4 EARNED LEAVE:

 One & half (1.5) Earned leaves could be credited on prorata basis at
the completion of each month.
 No EL will be credited during probation period, after successful
completion of probationary period, leaves will be automatically
credited to his/her account 4.5 leaves.
 EL can be carried forward but the number will not exceed by fourteen
(14).
 No (EL) Leaves Encashment.
 An employee can avail maximum one & half (1.5) EL in a month.
LEAVE POLICY AND PROCEDURE

5 SICK LEAVE:

 Sick Leave is calculated for a period of biannual calendar year


(January- June, July-December).
 Entitlement five (05) days SL is allowed to each employee each
biannual year.
 New employees will get these leave on prorata basis.
 An employee is entitled to three (03) days of SL only, however in case
of hospitalization (single/multiple) the employee could claim up to 12
days of sick leave (unpaid) with approval of CEO.
 SL of more than two (02) consecutive days is also to be recommended
by the Physician. The employee would be required to submit a
medical certificate from a registered medical practitioner for absence
exceeding three days.
 If SL is to exceed an employee’s entitlement the excessive leaves
could be adjusted as follows: Earned leave (if available) for illness not
requiring hospitalization.
 There would be no accumulation of SL and it would lapse at the end
of a calendar year.
 Sick leave will be unpaid if it exceeds from the required number.

6 MATERNITY LEAVE:

 A total of eight (8) consecutive weeks and twice during the period of
service.
 ML would be granted two weeks prior to the estimate delivery date
and six weeks following the birth of child.
 ML could not be enchased at the time of final settlement.

7 UNPAID LEAVE:

 Unpaid Leave will not be granted under normal circumstances.


However, under exceptional circumstances unpaid leave can only be
granted at the sole discretion of the CEO for up to Two weeks.

8 SHORT LEAVE:

 Two (02) STL are allowed in a month.


 It includes; coming late, early leaving, and a short break (maximum 2
hours) during working schedule and short leave should be approved at
least 4 hours before leaving or coming late should get verbal approval
from the competent authority.

9 LEAVE REQUEST HIERARCHY:

 Employee seeking any leave shall request and get leave approval from
his/her immediate Manager/Team Leader.
 After approval from the immediate manager the employee shall
update the said approval leave to the (General Manager).
 All Leaves would be approved by the respective CEO/General
Manager.

10 LEAVE RECORD:

 Finance will be responsible to update the leave record of all


employees.
 The employee will address the email to Finance for verification of
leave balance.

11 DEDUCTION OF SALARY:

 If an employee is unable to attend the office, he/she shall inform and


take approval from his/her respective Team Leader/Manager by
phone, or any other means at the start of work day, if his/her absence,
failing to which the employee would be considered absent. Such
absence means the salary of the employee may be deducted and
explanation would be required.
 Uninformed leaves are not allowed and will be unpaid.

12 POLICY APPLICABILITY:

 This policy is applicable from 15th May 2019.
