Abu Dhabi for the convenience of British Nationals who may require these services and assistance in
Abu Dhabi. It is provided on the understanding that we (the British Embassy) do not assume or

The Dubai Foundation for Women and Children (DFWAC) is the first licensed non-profit
shelter in the UAE for women and children victims of domestic violence, child abuse, and
trafficking. It was established in 2007 to offer victims immediate protection and support
services in accordance with international human rights obligations. The foundation provides
a helpline, emergency shelter, and support services to women and children victims. DFWAC
aims to protect physically, sexually, and emotionally abused and the escalation of violence,
and promote social awareness through education and outreach.

The Salvation Army (Middle East Region)

The Salvation Army is in early days of development here in the UAE. A Christian Church
with a strong desire to help those in need regardless of race or religion, the organisation is
exploring ways in which it can work out this calling here. There are four Salvation Army
officers in the region: two in Kuwait and two based in Sharjah/Dubai with responsibility for
the UAE. Although the operation is currently very small The Salvation Army may be able to
help with practical help. Referrals are preferred through the Embassy who might be able to
better channel the requests but in the UAE the officers (Majors Mark and Tracy Bearcroft).

Helping Hands UAE is a secular charitable project which has evolved to help those in real
need. It does not matter to us where the person is from, what his religion or beliefs are. If
he/she is needy and they have it, they’ll give it.

Beit Al Khair Society

This is an organisation that aims to provide financial help to the poor and the homeless.

Handicapped Guardian Association (HGA)

This is an organisation that provides services for children with special needs in UAE.

Hemaya

Hemaya aims to promote and raise awareness against drugs in UAE and other Arab
countries.

Manzil Centre for Challenged Individuals

This organisation provides educational and adaptive living skills programmes for students
with special needs between the ages of 3 to 30 years since its inception in 2005.

The UAERC is a national, humanitarian and voluntary authority that provides aid and
assistance to the vulnerable without discrimination as in nationality, race, gender, and
colour, religious, political or ideological beliefs.

This is a Non-Governmental Organisation in UAE that aims to raise awareness about
poverty, aids and other problems in the Middle East.

Safe Kids Organization

Social organisation that aims to prevent accidental childhood injury in UAE.

Al Noor Training Centre

This Centre serves children with special needs from different nationalities and can
accommodate up to 300 children in the new facility.
