Passive Voice

This document provides examples of sentences written in both the active and passive voice, and exercises for learners to practice changing between the two voices. Re-write the sentence using the structure Have/Get something done (or causative).

HAVE (any tense) +OBJECT + PAST PARTICIPLE

My computer broke down. Im having it repaired.

Do you cut your hair? No, I have my hair done.

Someone is cooking Davids dinner. David is having his dinner cooked.

We use have something done to talk about things that are done for us by other people,
usually professionals.

Get is sometimes used instead of have in informal or spoken language.
