Applicable Specifications and Standards 24 Specification: Reference Standards SATCC 1998 Edition: Section 4905 Project specifications : Preliminary Design - Report Rev 1, 27/06/2011, Plant + Equipment ‘Vibratory Roller ‘Stroke Tamper Brooms. Conorete Mixer ‘Water Can [Breaker Method 4. Preparation and Treatment Stop 1: Demarcation of filed areas wil be marked out by the Restdent Engineer prior to any works being carried out. Hf it fs found that the existing material at 160mm depth i stil unsuitable, then material willbe futher removed tothe ful specified depth, but not more than 300mm, Step 4: Ate the excavation complete, the engineer shall examine on ste, ‘Step 5: The floor ofthe excavation shall be compacted by a stroke tamper (Wacker) to the specified density ‘Step 6: The excavation shall be backfilled with emulsion stabised gravel (rom borrow pit km 53/59) in layers of 100mm thick. Each layer shall be compacted with a hand operated vibratory roller or a wacker depending on the sizeof the pothole. Refer fo clause five forthe mix design. Step 7: The process of spreading and compacting shall be repeated until the required level is reached (in ‘order fo obtain a flush finish with the surface of the road.) | Step 8: A compaction density test to be cartied out on the finished compacted layer. The results ofthe test are to be submitted to the Engineer for his epproval, ‘Step 8: On top of the stabilised compacted layer a thin coat of bitumen emulsion will be applied and spread Step 9: The Lane may be opened immediately thereafter. ‘Step 10: Prior to starting the reseal ofthe road a 6.7mm or 10mm road chip will be applied fo pothole area and rolled info the ETB (Emulsion Treated Base).
