way.
First, we are going to learn 0 to 9, 10, 100, 1,000 and 10,000. After that, we will be able to say
numbers until 99,999 in Mandarin. Pretty cool right? Lets start with the basic numbers.

Ten thousand

In Mandarin, we can write both Chinese numbers and Arabic numbers (1, 2, 3 ) with same
pronunciation. For example, zero we can write or 0, but both pronounce as lng.

Part 3: Numbers from 20 to 99

Twenty = Two Ten + zero (whenever zero is at behind, we will ignore it.)

Two() + Ten() + zero(ignore) =

Twenty one = Two Ten + one, become

Two() + Ten() + One() =

Again, same goes to 22 until 29, that is
and .

Thirty = Three Ten and zero (ignore), and become

Three() + Ten() + zero(ignore) =

Forty = Four Ten and zero (ignore) and it become

Four() + Ten() + zero(ignore) =

So, can you guess what is 50, 60, 70, 80 and 90? Answer is and .
** Exception: Ten(10), we will not say one ten , just ten .

Sixty seven = Six Ten + Seven

Six() + Ten() + Seven() =

Part 4: Numbers from 100 to 99,999

Hundred = One hundred and all zero in behind we ignore

One() + hundred() =

One hundred and one = One hundred + zero Ten + One,

** zero in middle we cannot ignore, so must put

One() + hundred() + zero() + one()

=

One hundred and eleven = One Hundred + One Ten + One

One() + Hundred ()
+ One () + Ten()
+ One ()
=

One hundred and twenty one is

One() + hundred() + two() + ten() +

one() =
Or One hundred() + twenty one()
Can you see the formations pattern now?
1. It is how many hundred + how many ten + how many one (0-9).
2. And if after zero didnt have number(s), then we will ignore it.
3. But if zero is in the middle, we must say .
The rules are apply to all numbers from 20 until 99,999.
