Name Callie Fefopoulos Age of Students 3 Small Group Activity

This lesson plan is for a small group activity for 3-year-old students. The goal is for students to demonstrate curiosity about science through observation and play. Students will make predictions about a balloon rocket experiment and observe what happens. To meet expectations, students will observe the experiment and make a prediction. To exceed expectations, they will ask additional questions or expand on their observations. The lesson uses a balloon, string, straw and tape for a rocket experiment to engage students and assess their predictions and observations.

Goal:
Standard: Children develop positive attitudes and gain knowledge
about science through observation and active play.
Lesson Objective: Students will demonstrate curiosity about and
interest in their natural environments that leads them to engage in
activities related to science. Students will ask questions related to their
own interest and observations. hey will talk about their predictions
based on past and current e!periences. Students will be able to e!pand
their observational skills.

rans"er Goal: Curiosity prompting questions that lead to making
predictions and observing can be used in all scienti#c e!periences and
other li"e situations.
$ssessment: $ll students will observe the e!periment and participate
by making a prediction on what they think will happen.
$nticipatory Set: Class will read a story about rockets and have a
group discussion making predictions on what they think will happen
with the rocket.
%rocedure:
& '!plain that the balloon will be the rocket.
& (iscuss that the balloon will have air inside o" it a"ter you blow it
up.
& ie one end o" the string to a chair. %ut a straw through the other

actually happened.
