About six months after it announced support for Desktop and iOS, 1Password has revealed Android support for passkeys. Passkeys let you log in securely and quickly using your device as a sort of substitution for passwords. Instead of typing in a password (or using a password manager like 1Password or LastPass), you let your device generate a login for you. It's all based on public-key cryptography, so it's super secure. Plus, passkeys are all the same strength—there's no such thing as a weak passkey like there are weak passwords. They are also phishing resistant (no one can steal your passkey and it always needs to work from your device), and can't be stolen in a data breach for the same reasons. Creating a mobile passkey on 1Password is fairly simple. You'll launch Watchtower from the bottom bar of your 1Password app and update all your current passkey-supported logins to a passkey, like Amazon, Uber, or WhatsApp. New apps that support passkey can be downloaded to your phone, too. To use passkeys via 1Password on Android, you'll need a device running Android 14 or higher, the latest version of 1Password for Android, and any app that supports passkeys. Was this page helpful?
