"That Is Insufferable": Kristin Chenoweth Has Sparked Mixed Reactions After Saying She Calls Her Dog Her "Baby"

Kristin famously doesn't have kids but calls herself "a crazy dog person."

If you're a dog owner, you've probably innocently called your dog your "baby" at some point. I know I have — and so has Kristin Chenoweth.

You've probably also received comments over it, maybe even some light criticism, because, as people will try to tell you, "it's only a dog."

Well, Kristin has heard that, too, and in a new interview, she addressed the pet police who have something to say about her choices.

If you didn't know, Kristin is the dog mom of a girl cockapoo mix named Thunder. Here's the two of them together:

She told People: "When people say, 'Oh, it's just your dog,' I want to go, 'She came out of my vagina. What are you talking about?' I love my dog. Okay?"

Kristin, 56, famously does not have children, but she said she's "a crazy dog person" for the "patience and unconditional love" they possess.

"I take it as a very big privilege to have a dog," she shared. "I swear, Thunder can look me in the eyes, she's got human eyes, and she'll be like, 'Mommy, it's okay.' I don't know what it is. She's seen me in my worst and my best, and I'm so glad she can't talk because then I'd be in real trouble."

People reacted to her comments online, with many branding the vagina remark both "hilarious" and relatable.

"She’s so hilarious for this honestly," one Reddit user wrote, adding, "The fact that people can’t see this as a joke makes it 100x funnier."

"I love this lady," another added, while someone else said, "This is so ridiculous and funny! I love it, especially as a fellow fur baby mum."

A fourth person said, "Fr, I birthed a human baby but I think this is hilarious and I make the same joke about my fur babies lol." While another person wrote, "Hehe that is so cute, and dog lovers understand 😀."

At the same time, some criticized Kristin's comments.

One critic wrote, "It's fucking ridiculous. There’s a reason they are called pets. I don’t like how society these days wants to shove dogs into people lives and others are just supposed to take it." Another stated, "As an owner of 5 dogs, that is insufferable."

"Seems like most of her reaction is talking about how much she loves her dog and how great having a dog is," a third person observed. "Which is great, I also love my dogs. I love playing with my dogs, I love going on walks, they're a big part of my life and a part of my family. But I still find it really weird when anyone refers to their dog as their son, daughter, or kid."
