Undergraduate Programs

The undergraduate program at AUIS is organized into six academic departments by subject.

These academic departments offer majors which are the student's primary program of study and define the degree that will be earned by each student upon graduation. 

The undergraduate curriculum at AUIS is structured to help students learn to think critically, act ethically, write and speak clearly, study across disciplines, become more curious about new and unfamiliar ideas, and develop a global perspective. This is facilitated by a team of highly dedicated and professional faculty who foster classroom discussion, hands-on learning, community service and independent learning.

AUIS undergraduates have the opportunity to explore a variety of disciplines before choosing their major. Each student is required to declare his or her major degree program in the third semester of undergraduate studies in the Academic Program. AUIS students also have the option of pursuing a secondary course of study in addition to their degree program.

Students who choose the English-Journalism Major will acquire dexterity in traditional and emerging media.
The Bachelor of Arts in English-Literature provides students with an opportunity to read and think deeply about a range of literature written in the English language, not just as critics and theoreticians, but also as educators.
The International Studies major offers students humane learning, practically applied.
The mission of the AUIS Law Department is to create the premier legal higher education program in Iraq and its Kurdistan Region. It strives to offer a vibrant and diverse department where students develop the knowledge, skills, and professional values to have successful careers advancing justice, building the economy, and serving the various needs of modern Iraqi and Kurdish society. 
The Translation major equips students with the knowledge, theory, linguistic literacy, and practical
The Bachelor of Science in Business Administration at AUIS offers students a comprehensive program taught by an international faculty who bring a variety of experiences into the classroom. Graduates will be equipped with tools that will help them to excel in private sector enterprises. 
Civil engineers design and build the country's structure. In this discipline you will be focusing on all the new technologies and practices that are common among Civil engineers. By your 7th semester you will be taking courses that focuses on designing, building, and maintaining structures.
The Construction Engineering is one of its kind in the country. The major is designed to equip students with the right tools to carefully design, plan, and carry out the construction of any project, large scale or small. 
Energy is the foundation of our life and an important topic in KRI agenda. The course is designed to facilitate students to understand the different aspects of energy and come up with efficient and new ideas to increase the production of energy. The course focuses on all types of energy resources, which are explored through individual and group projects.
The Bachelor of Science degree in Information Technology is a technical degree program that prepares students in the core competencies of the IT discipline, including
The Mechanical Engineering Major is designed to produce graduates that not only know about engineering aspect of materials, but also apply the science of physics, mathematics, and material science to design, analyze and manufacture systems.
The vision of the AUIS Medical Laboratory Science (MLS) program is to become a local and regional model in medical laboratory education and research. 
The main mission of the Software Engineering program at AUIS is to prepare a generation of students who can develop and solve industrial, governmental, educational, and organizational problems with contemporary programming and designing tools.
