MMIS Offers its MediSpend Validate Tool for Free in Response to Industry Frustration with CMS Sudden Changes to Data Matching Algorithms

MMIS, Inc., the leading provider of compliance solutions for pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturers, announces today that its MediSpend Validate tool will be available for free to manufacturers to help them validate their data against just-announced revisions to CMS’ Open Payments reporting requirements.

MediSpend Validate allows organizations to upload Open Payments reports to a software-as-a-service (SaaS) validation system and receive detailed reports for all records. MMIS is currently seeking clarification from CMS to ensure that MediSpend Validate utilizes the revised matching algorithms.

“At the just concluded 8th Annual Forum on Transparency and Aggregate Spend in Washington DC, everyone expressed frustration and wanted to understand why CMS modified the matching algorithms which caused a significant number of transactions to be removed from manufacturers portals,” said Michaeline Daboul, CEO of MMIS. “Despite CMS’ response, manufacturers and industry executives are still confused. In order to help manufacturers comply and re-validate their data, we have decided to make MediSpend Validate available to all manufacturers at no cost.”

CMS explained why certain submitted records were rejected. The key point was that manufacturers must now match additional data elements in the NPPES or PECOS data sets to ensure an accurate match to CMS data sources. Changing the algorithm is what caused selected data to be removed. CMS also said that removed records would not be included in the initial public release of data on September 30th. Instead, removed records will be returned to manufacturers and GPOs for further remediation consistent with the revised requirements.

“Given that this is the first reporting period for Open Payments, we expected there to be some issues, but this latest issue came as quite a surprise”, said Tim Robinson, Chief Knowledge Office at MMIS. “There have been challenges with the CMS site and unexpected removal of data that was submitted in accordance with previously published requirements.”

MMIS will provide detailed instructions on how to access the cloud-based MediSpend Validate portal early next week. “Open Payments, a program designed to bring more transparency to the healthcare industry, is struggling due to technology issues related to data matching, but physician data is complex and we expected some of these problems." commented Daboul. “As a recognized technology leader in the aggregate spend marketplace, making MediSpend Validate available to all, is the right thing to do.”

In very short order, the term "Blockchain" has lost an incredible amount of meaning. With too many jumping on the bandwagon, the market is inundated with projects and use cases that miss the real potential of the technology. We have to begin removing Blockchain from the conversation and ground ourselves in the motivating principles of the technology itself; whether it is consumer privacy, data ownership, trust or even participation in the global economy, the world is faced with serious problems that this technology could ultimately help us in at least partially solving. But if we do not unpack what is real and what is not, we can lose sight of the potential. In this presentation, John Bates-who leads data science, machine learning and AI in the Adobe Analytics business unit-will present his 4-prong model of the general areas where Blockchain can have a real impact and the specific use...
In an age of borderless networks, security for the cloud and security for the corporate network can no longer be separated. Security teams are now presented with the challenge of monitoring and controlling access to these cloud environments, as they represent yet another frontier for cyber-attacks. Complete visibility has never been more important-or more difficult. Powered by AI, Darktrace's Enterprise Immune System technology is the only solution to offer real-time visibility and insight into all parts of a network, regardless of its configuration. By learning a ‘pattern of life' for all networks, devices, and users, Darktrace can detect threats as they arise and autonomously respond in real time - all without impacting server performance.
Moving to Azure is the path to digital transformation, but not every journey is effective. Organizations that start with a cohesive, well-planned migration strategy can avoid common mistakes and stay a step ahead of the competition. Learn from Atmosera CEO, Jon Thomsen about the opportunities and challenges found in three pivotal phases of the journey to the cloud: Evaluation and Architecting, Migration and Management, and Optimization & Innovation. Keeping these in mind will make your migration to the Azure simpler and more effective.
At CloudEXPO Silicon Valley, June 24-26, 2019, Digital Transformation (DX) is a major focus with expanded DevOpsSUMMIT and FinTechEXPO programs within the DXWorldEXPO agenda. Successful transformation requires a laser focus on being data-driven and on using all the tools available that enable transformation if they plan to survive over the long term. A total of 88% of Fortune 500 companies from a generation ago are now out of business. Only 12% still survive. Similar percentages are found throughout enterprises of all sizes.
Public clouds dominate IT conversations but the next phase of cloud evolutions are "multi" hybrid cloud environments. The winners in the cloud services industry will be those organizations that understand how to leverage these technologies as complete service solutions for specific customer verticals. In turn, both business and IT actors throughout the enterprise will need to increase their engagement with multi-cloud deployments today while planning a technology strategy that will constitute a significant part of their IT budgets in the very near future. As IoT solutions are growing rapidly, as well as security challenges growing exponentially, without a doubt, the cloud world is about to change for the better. Again.
