Solstice Mobile Named to Inc. 500/5000 List for Fifth Consecutive Year

Chicago-based mobile solutions boutique continues to be recognized for its rapid growth and contributions to innovation

CHICAGO, Aug. 21, 2014 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- Solstice Mobile, the country's leading digital innovation and mobile solutions boutique, announced that it was ranked in Inc Magazine's list of the 5,000 fastest-growing private US companies for the fifth consecutive year. This key corporate milestone comes on the heels of a host of other significant awards including Fortune's Inner City 100, Crain's Top 15 Job Creators and Built In's 6 Best Companies For New Developers.  The firm's Founder and CEO, J Schwan, was also recently named a 2014 EY Entrepreneur of the Year Midwest Finalist and included in the Techweek 100 list for the second straight year.

This exciting Inc. 5000 ranking can be contributed to a 129% increase in revenue from 2011 to 2013, and continued momentum through 2014 with the addition of several new blue chip, global Fortune 500 clients across Financial Services, Manufacturing, Agriculture and CPG sectors. Solstice has also increased its employee headcount by 20% in the past year and is quickly populating their new 31,000 square foot Chicago innovation center. With this new space, Solstice recently announced their newest service offering: R&D-as-a-Service. By working with many industry leading clients as a digital R&D extension, the firm practices rapid experimentation with new business models by leveraging Mobile, Wearables, the Internet of Things, Sensor Connected Ecosystems and Big Data technologies.

"Our holistic offering as both an innovation consultancy and full-lifecycle digital product development firm, combined with our next generation delivery model based on Lean UX and Agile principles, provides our clients the foresight and agility to be 'first' in their respective industries," noted J Schwan, Founder and CEO of Solstice Mobile.

In the past year, Solstice has also expanded their North American footprint with three additional regional offices in New York, Madison and Houston. Solstice is also preparing for the launch of their first international delivery center in Buenos Aires, Argentina this fall.

Solstice has managed to achieve this organic growth without taking on any outside capital investment. Solstice CFO, Dan Kardatzke commented, "Solstice has been able to achieve phenomenal growth due to our consistent successful delivery and high client retention rate. 85% of Solstice revenue can be attributed to existing client relationships, on top of the firm experiencing rapid double-digit year over year growth."

Solstice's secret sauce comes in the form of patented proprietary tools and a next generation technology delivery model.  "Our success is attributed to three factors: the creativity and passion of our people, the quality-enforcing technologies integrated into our AppLauncher DevOps platform and the transparency and client-collaboration that is ingrained in our Agile delivery model," said Solstice COO Greg Cullen.

The standardization of container runtimes and images has sparked the creation of an almost overwhelming number of new open source projects that build on and otherwise work with these specifications. Of course, there's Kubernetes, which orchestrates and manages collections of containers. It was one of the first and best-known examples of projects that make containers truly useful for production use. However, more recently, the container ecosystem has truly exploded. A service mesh like Istio addresses many of the challenges faced by developers and operators as monolithic applications transition towards a distributed microservice architecture. A tracing tool like Jaeger analyzes what's happening as a transaction moves through a distributed system. Monitoring software like Prometheus captures time-series events for real-time alerting and other uses. Grafeas and Kritis provide security polic...
