The Digital Customer Journey in Fintech and Beyond

Digital Transformation is much more than a buzzword. The radical shift to digital mechanisms for almost every process is evident across all industries and verticals. This is often especially true in financial services, where the legacy environment is many times unable to keep up with the rapidly shifting demands of the consumer. The constant pressure to provide complete, omnichannel delivery of customer-facing solutions to meet both regulatory and customer demands is putting enormous pressure on organizations of all sizes and in every line of business. Fintech is a constant battleground for this technology expanding trend and the lessons learned here can be applied anywhere. Digital transformation isn't going to go away and the need for greater understanding and skills around managing, guiding, and understanding the greater landscape of change is required for effective transformations.

This session will explore the core challenges that face every organization looking to transform and embrace digital experiences for their customers. From the shift in culture, to the need for new tech, to the technical debt load that will be incurred, we will cover all of them. Through the talk we will see ways in which others have mitigated and addressed them to facilitate complex and complete digital transformation, and ways in which they have failed and why. Participants will leave with a better vision for what constitutes digital transformation and how to embrace and deliver on this need in their own organizations. No technical skills are required, but a general technical understanding is assumed for participants.

Practical IoT Development for Anyone Using Pi and Python

IoT is rapidly becoming mainstream as more and more investments are made into the platforms and technology. As this movement continues to expand and gain momentum it creates a massive wall of noise that can be difficult to sift through. Unfortunately, this inevitably makes IoT less approachable for people to get started with and can hamper efforts to integrate this key technology into your own portfolio. There are so many connected products already in place today with many hundreds more on the horizon, that we already run the risk as enablers and supporters of not being able to effectively understand and develop these complex and multi-disciplined solutions on our own. That understanding, of the basics of circuits, sensors, and how those things work together and with software is the key to being able to understand, engineer, and support IoT solutions in your own environment.

In this workshop, participants will get hands-on guidance in building and coding their own prototype IoT project from scratch. Participants will walk away from this session with an understanding of the fundamental requirements for assembling a variety of circuits, sensors, platforms, and essential Python programming skills that will allow them to rapidly prototype IoT projects for their own scenarios. We will also talk about how to make the transition from prototype to production and the increased capabilities and requirements that transition provides. IoT is a critical technology across so many industries, that knowing these fundamentals will make you a better prepared and more effective IoT practitioner. No prior experience in development or hardware is required, and no hardware is needed; it will be provided for participants.

Side note on this workshop - I have enough hardware for 20 participants on hand. I could expand that if demand is high, and/or I am willing to do the session more than once as well if their is enough demand.

Speaker Bio:

Chris Harrold is the head of Developer Relations for Avoka, based in Colorado. He has been a developer evangelist for 10+ years for a variety of organizations and has extensive experience with digital transformation projects.
