Continuous Delivery Pioneer to Play Leadership Role at Chef as Enterprise DevOps Adoption Surges

SEATTLE, WA -- (Marketwired) -- 08/20/14 -- Chef, the leader in web-scale IT automation, today announced Jez Humble has joined the company as an engineering vice president. Humble is the co-author of the highly influential book Continuous Delivery: Reliable Software Releases through Build, Test, and Deployment Automation. A noted speaker and lecturer at the University of California, Berkeley, Humble is widely regarded as one of the premier leaders in agile software delivery practices and the implementation of positive organizational change. At Chef, Humble will play a leadership role in shaping Chef's own engineering processes and will guide Chef's continuous delivery solutions strategy amidst surging enterprise DevOps adoption.

Humble joins Chef during a period of tremendous company and community growth. The company's incremental recurring revenue grew 182 percent year-over-year (YoY) in Q2 2014, while new Global 2000 customers grew 100 percent YoY in the same quarter. Chef's open source platform has reached more than 10 million downloads. Chef has added more than 70 employees thus far in 2014, as the company nears 200 employees worldwide.

"I am delighted for the opportunity to be part of Chef's evolution and growth -- and to count among my colleagues some of the people I admire most in our community," Humble said. "I have seen many companies use Chef's platform to enable their move to continuous delivery, and I'm excited about our plans for the future."

"Jez is the man," said Barry Crist, CEO, Chef. "Continuous delivery is so critical to both Chef and our customers. Having Jez's depth and expertise will be enormously helpful over the coming years."
