CloudExpo | DXWorldEXPO have announced the conference tracks for Cloud Expo 2018, introducing DXWorldEXPO. DXWordEXPO, colocated with Cloud Expo will be held June 5-7, 2018, at the Javits Center in New York City, and November 6-8, 2018, at the Santa Clara Convention Center, Santa Clara, CA. Digital Transformation (DX) is a major focus with the introduction of DXWorld Expo within the program. Successful transformation requires a laser focus on being data-driven and on using all the tools available that enable transformation if they plan to survive over the long term. A total of 88% of Fortune 500 companies from a generation ago are now out of business. Only 12% still survive. Similar percentages are found throughout enterprises of all sizes. Cloud Computing: Five Big Rules

1. Cloud Computing is an attitude. If you don't want to do it, you'll find an excuse. Fine. Your choice. 2. Cloud Computing does not make society more efficient. Cloud Computing, The Tau Index, & The N-11 Countries

I've been intrigued recently to see how well the Top 25 countries in something I created called the Tau Index match up with a group known as the "Next Eleven" or N-11 countries. This latter group was identified by the London office of Goldman Sachs a few years back as the places with the most potential to become the next global economic powers. The Tau Index is a measure that integrates IT spend with a few other factors to determine the world's most aggressive IT deployers. Countries that made both lists include Indonesia, Vietnam, the Philippines, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Egypt, Ir... (more)

Cisco Ups "Codec War" Ante as WebRTC Summit Approaches

"WebRTC and the Codec War" is the topic of just one session at the upcoming 1st WebRTC Summit, and technology giant Cisco has now given even more oomph to this huge emerging IT trend. I'll be moderating the two-day Summit, which will be held November 6-7 during the 13th International Cloud Expo next week at the Santa Clara Convention Center in Silicon Valley. The Codec War in particular got a recent boost with Cisco's major announcement that it will be open sourcing its H.264 codec for high-definition, online video, making the codec available as a free binary download. Interview: @AndiMann on DevOps and CAMS | @DevOpsSummit [#DevOps]

Andi Mann (pictured below) is Vice President, Office of the CTO with CA Technologies. He also serves as Conference Chair of our @DeveOpsSummit, to be held November 4-6 at the Santa Clara Convention Center in Silicon Valley. Here are some of Andi's thoughts as we enter the final weeks of preparation for the @DevOpsSummit. DevOps Journal: Cloud, Big Data, and the IoT all carry disruption within enterprise IT. The same goes with DevOps. Which of these is the major disruptor, in your opinion? Andi Mann: It may well be cloud, because it fundamentally enables all the rest. Cloud scale... (more)
