http://twitter.com/fuatkircaali Today marks the 30th day of Ulitzer's public beta. We had an amazing month and perhaps one of the most widely discussed launches of a "new media" site. Gartner recently asked, "Will Ulitzer dominate news content on the Web eventually?" The answer is yes, and I'll explain why. First, I'd like to share some of the 30-day stats with you. We had more than 140,000 visitors who read 197,000 pages of articles, blogs and news stories. The syndicated page views (outside the Ulitzer domain) exceeded 1,369,983 page views. The legendary technology reporter Maureen O'Gara was the most read Ulitzer author with 231,600 rolling page views, and we syndicated more than 3,000 Ulitzer stories. My First Blackberry, Circa 1999 I remember receiving my first Blackberry 10 years ago at the JavaOne conference in San Francisco. It was a small device similar to a ... (more)

Instant Professionalism Online Despite Yourself...with Ulitzer

Personal Branding on Ulitzer I read an article by an author on Ulitzer.com and was amazed at the professional image it provided him. I immediately researched Ulitzer to see if there was yet hope for me. I am a technology blogger on the subject of mobile computing strategies.  As I was doing research I came across the author Ian Thain, a fellow mobile computing blogger, who had a very professional website on Ulitzer (www.ulitzer.com). Professional envy motivated me to investigate this thing called Ulitzer. Ian's website looked like he had spent a great deal of time and money on it - all things I am short on. I carefully studied Ian's website to see how it was set up.  It looked like an expensive industry portal with colorful graphics, animation and industry news. It had tabs that filtered articles, by most popular, by date, etc.  I have blogged for over 5 years so... (more)

Today, Matt Asay, general manager of the Americas and vice president of business development at Alfresco, in his CNET blog, writes: “The single biggest distributor of Drupal just might be Microsoft. As I discovered from Dries Buytaert's blog yesterday, Microsoft's Web Application Installer comes with out-of-the-box support for Drupal, OScommerce, and other popular open-source web applications.” This Google alert for Drupal passed by my screen just as I was about to announce that the SYS-CON Media website, recently relaunched, was completely rewritten and deployed “under the hood” on Drupal. Also coming up before the end of this year is Ulitzer, the largest Drupal deployment anywhere. Ulitzer is being built on Drupal with more than two million nodes, including more than 6,000 author home pages leading to over a million original articles. Page views of Ulitzer followin... (more)

Windows 7 RC & XPM Beta Out

Microsoft has posted both the public release of the Windows 7 Release Candidate and the beta XP Mode (XPM) add-on, the virtualized rendition of XP that Microsoft made so users of the new operating system can run XP apps, well, so at least the premium SKUs of Win7 can, provided they have processor-based virtualization support (which threatens to be another hurdle for Microsoft since not all new chips have it). Orchestra Featured on SAP Ulitzer Site

Wow, look at me, I'm famous. Oh wait, what have I done. Are people going to follow me to the grocery store with cameras now? It runs on Drupal and is reported to be one of the largest Drupal sites in existence, expected to have millions of views per month with over 2 million nodes. When talking IoT we often focus on the devices, the sensors, the hardware itself. The new smart appliances, the new smart or self-driving cars (which are amalgamations of many ‘things’).
