Graduate Student Appreciation Week celebrates the accomplishments and contributions of more than 11,000 graduate students on the Urbana campus. That’s roughly one quarter of the entire student population spread out over 100 graduate programs. Our graduate students come from all 50 states and more than 102 countries around the world. The Graduate College Office of External Fellowships is offering a grant writing workshop for graduate students in STEM (science, technology, engineering, & math). Dr. Karen Ruhleder, Assistant Director of External Fellowships, will cover how and where to search for funding and will present a nuts and bolts introduction of the art of proposal writing.
Gradmap: making Plans in Grad School

What do you want to achieve in graduate school? The skills and experiences you gain in the coming years will impact your success in graduate school and beyond. In GradMAP, you will develop a personalized development plan so you can get the most out of your time in graduate school and make use of campus resources for graduate students. In this hands-on program, you will identify goals and make a plan to achieve them, with a focus on developing skills in areas like leadership, research, teaching, and professionalism. GradMAP is open to graduate students at any level, but it is especially useful for students in the first several years of their programs. Sponsored by the Graduate College.

Learn to simplify your stress during this interactive workshop including time management tips and relaxation exercises to help reduce the tension in graduate school. This annual exhibition represents the culmination of intense artistic development for graduate students in studio art and design. Marking a meaningful step further into the art world, the exhibition highlights and celebrates the artists’ exceptional creativity and inventiveness.
