Open Source Selenium Web Application Testing System

Selenium is a free Web Application Testing System. It gained lots of popularity since it is available. In this post I’ll show you how to use these tools to list your SQL database. Once again, just a reminder that I’m using the command line tools on a MacBook Air with OSX (Mavericks) installed, and I’m using Google Chrome as my default browser. Coach Wei's Blog Here is a question that I have been pondering on and off for quite a while: Why do "cool kids" choose Ruby or PHP to build websites instead of Java? I have to admit that I do not have an answer. Why do I even care? Because I am a Java developer. Like many Java developers, I get along with Java well. Not only the language itself, but the development environments (Eclipse for example), step-by-step debugging helper, wide availability of libraries and code snippets, and the readily accessible information on almost any technical question I may have on Java via Google. Last but not least, I go to JavaOne and see 10,000 people that talk and walk just like me. The other reason that I ponder this question is that  the power of Java is a perfect fit for the areas where websites may need more than markups or scripting, such as middleware logic. Qt DevDays 2009 - Munich

I have not blogged much about what I work with or do and that's on purpose.  Sometimes I am not allowed to tell and mostly I think you would not find it interesting.  However, I wanna share with you from Qt Developer Days #qtdd09 in Munich, which was an amazing event.   Not only is Qt a decent Developer tool for making desktop apps, but joining forces with Nokia, ex-Trolltech is getting far more traction as well. As a result of last week's devdays but also beta-release of Qt 4.6, one of my favorite online newsletter had this article last week.   But being at DevDays Europe is an amazing experience. AppFog Gets $8 Million

Year-old PHP PaaS hoster AppFog, née PHP Fog, has gotten an $8 million B round led by Ignition Partners with participation from new investors Simon Crosby, Citrix' former data center and virtualization CTO, and VC Matt Ocko as well as existing investors, Madrona Venture Group, First Round Capital and Founders Co-Op. That makes $9.8 million altogether. Ignition gets a board seat and Ignition managing director Frank Artale will fill it. The money's earmarked for integrating broader technologies - it wants to support Node, Ruby, Python, Java and .NET - which explains why it's changed its name - and adding to the development team working on AppFog, the technology that powers PHP Fog. Why I Didn’t Mention Flash Player

I was making a presentation to our client on mobile development. It’s a strong Flex-Java IT shop, and our company helps them with Flex development. I was comparing pros and cons of native vs html5. Spoke about the hybrids too. During the Q & A session one person asked me if I was avoiding mentioning Flash Player on purpose? At this moment I realized, that it was probably the first time when I didn’t even plan to mention it. It happened naturally. I still like the technology, but it would be unfair to lie to the client. I answered that we are still using the Flex framework and AIR in our own software product that’s being used in insurance industry, and our company will continue helping customers who need help with Flex. The desktop version of our product uses Adobe Flex, and for tablets we use Adobe AIR. But I don’t see commitment from the Adobe to Flex or AIR. The c... (more)
