Survey Finds Large Enterprises Adopting WebRTC

Government IT Expo: eGov and Open Standards

When President Obama appointed his new federal CIO, Vivek Kundra, last week, Kundra announced ambitious plans to "democratize" federal government data by making it accessible in open formats and in data feeds. His plan calls for the creation of a single point of access to all public federal information. The idea is to enable the data to be accessed by developers whose applications will open up federal data to the sunlight of millions of citizens by encouraging them to scrutinize how the Recovery Act's dollars will be spent. As chief technology officer for the District of Columbia, Kundra raised the bar by making government data more readily accessible to its residents, leveraging pre-existing Web 2.0 technologies like Facebook and YouTube. Google’s Waze Acquisition in the Bag

Google made its much anticipated move Tuesday and pocketed Waze, the Israeli real-time traffic map maker. It didn't disclose how much it's paid to close the deal, but the Israeli paper Globes put the price at $1.3 billion. Bloomberg put it at $1.1 billion. Either way it's reportedly cash money. Google said in a short blog announcement that the "Waze product development team will remain in Israel and operate separately for now." Waze reportedly has 100 people in Israel. Facebook tried to buy Waze for a reported $800 million to a billion dollars in cash and stock, but negotiations supposedly broke down when it insisted the Waze folks move to California. The start-up has an office in Silicon Valley where it has a small staff and where its CEO Noam Bardin is located. Eleven Tips for Successful Cloud Computing Adoption

Key issues can make or break an organization's strategic cloud adoption. The intersection of cloud computing with business strategy, Big Data, vendor lock-in, globalization, collaboration, security, licensing, virtualization, confidence, and the ‘new normal' can act as huge points of concern. So I put down some thoughts on this, and ended up - in no particular order - with the following 11 tips for the successful adoption of cloud computing: 1.
