The Lean Cloud: The Need for Multi-Cloud DevOps
All clouds are not equal. To succeed in a DevOps context, organizations
should plan to develop/deploy apps across a choice of on-premise and public
clouds simultaneously depending on the business needs. This is where the
concept of the Lean Cloud comes in - resting on the idea that you often need
to relocate your app modules over their life cycles for both innovation and
operational efficiency in the cloud.

Why Self-Service Analytics Is Replacing Traditional Business Intelligence
By Pritika Ramani, Product Analyst, ManageEngine
Modern organizations typically use several IT tools to monitor their
applications, networks and other IT components in real time. Unfortunately,
this leads to independent data islands, which creates a one-dimensional view
of IT. In order to make strategic decisions, organizations need an IT
operational analytics tool to analyze data from multiple sources, spot trends
and make better decisions.
While there are several analytics tools in the market, most tend to be either
complicated or expensive to use. Self-service analytical tools, on the other
hand, offer a rare combination of simplicity and affordability, making them
popular among users. With the emergence of these comprehensive tools, every
IT user can access data from various silos, get unifi... (more)
A Pair of Virtual Technologies to Create True Scale-out Storage
Almost three years ago, VMware introduced the world to its virtual SAN. This
new solution enabled customers to use storage within ESXi servers without the
need for external storage - an exciting promise for organizations that wanted
to quickly scale their virtual storage. Now, it's time to check in on this
technology and see if it's living up to its promise.
VMware became a player in the storage array and software market when it
launched vSAN. Server admins were looking forward to using vSAN because it
gave them a symmetrical architecture that did not require external storage,
thus being able to use storage within existing servers. It also doesn't
require specialized storage skills. However, no one solution can be all
things to all enterprises, and as enterprises began to deploy vSAN across
their enviro... (more)

Nerdio all about. What do you do?
Vadim Vladimirskiy: Nerdio is a proven IT-as-a-service platform with virtual
desktop infrastructure (VDI) technology at its core. Nerdio is designed for
IT departments that need a way to easily manage their ever-increasing
workloads. Nerdio allows users to efficiently manage their complete IT
environments by giving them full visibility and control of users' desktops.
In addition to virtual desktops, the Nerdio platform includes unlimited
virtual servers, Microsoft Office 365 security, and disaster recovery - plus
24/7/365 support.
Who is your target audience and how do you reach them?
Vladimirskiy: We have a two-pronged approach to market: direct and channel
(managed service providers, or MSPs). On the direct side of things, we target
internal IT professiona... (more)

Guaranteeing Performance for Your Virtualized Apps and Private Cloud
Fact: storage performance problems have only gotten more complicated, as
applications not only have become largely virtualized, but also have moved to
cloud-based infrastructures. Storage performance in virtualized environments
isn't just about IOPS anymore. Instead, you need to guarantee performance for
individual VMs, helping applications maintain performance as the number of
VMs continues to go up in real time.

Container Monitoring: Top Docker Metrics to Watch
By Stefan Thies
Monitoring of Docker environments is challenging. Why? Because each container
typically runs a single process, has its own environment, utilizes virtual
networks, or has various methods of managing storage. Traditional monitoring
solutions take metrics from each server and applications they run. These
servers and applications running on them are typically very static, with very
long uptimes. Docker deployments are different: a set of containers may run
many applications, all sharing the resources of one or more underlying hosts.
It's not uncommon for Docker servers to run thousands of short-term
containers (e.g., for batch jobs) while a set of permanent services runs in
parallel. Traditional monitoring tools not used to such dynamic environments
are not suited for such deployments. On the other hand, s... (more)
Top 5 Reasons Why Security Teams Love Intelligent Deception
Cyberattacks are relentless. The pace of attacks shows no sign of slowing,
and organizations understand that 100 percent prevention of attacks is not
possible. Traditional prevention and detection techniques are falling short,
and security professionals are scrambling for new paradigms that can more
effectively detect attacks and mitigate the growing levels of damage.
In this climate of confusion, deception-based solutions offer a viable and
proven way to stop attackers in their tracks. Why? Because instead of sitting
back and waiting to be the victim, detection technologies let organizations
be proactive and take the attack to the attacker. We've compiled a list of
top five reasons why more security teams are opting for deception:
1. Malware Agnostic
