Sensor Analytics Ecosystems | @ThingsExpo @JAdP #IoT #IIoT #M2M #API

Much of the Internet of Things’s potential comes from the evolving data management and analytic (DMA) technologies and processes

Sensor Analytics Ecosystems, Fulfilling the IoT Potential

The Internet of Things (IoT), in all its myriad manifestations, has great potential. Much of that potential comes from the evolving data management and analytic (DMA) technologies and processes that allow us to gain insight from all of the IoT data that can be generated and gathered. This potential may never be met as those data sets are tied to specific industry verticals and single markets, with no clear way to use IoT data and sensor analytics to fulfill the hype being given the IoT today.

More important are the solution spaces that can only be addressed through the convergence of the IoT with DMA. These solution spaces are being defined by cultural, regulatory, environmental, political and economic factors.

Building upon his talk at @ThingsExpo 2014 Silicon Valley, Joseph di Paolantonio, an independent industry analysts and consulting data scientist as DataArchon, will explore how these solution spaces will come together as sensor analytics ecosystems (SAE) to bring the IoT to fulfillment. He will examine how organizations can benefit from the IoT through SAE marketplaces, communities and APIs. He will touch upon an IoT maturity model and show how SAE evolve from this model. Organizations need to incorporate the advantages of IoT today and participate in SAE by 2020. Those that don't won't be around in 2025.

Speaker Bio
Joseph di Paolantonio began working with IoT data in 2000 when his consultancy and system integration firm partnered with RFID companies, integrating RFID data into supply chain datamarts. He began focusing more on connected data solutions as complex systems of systems in 2007. Over the past three years, his research has focused on defining solution spaces that are uniquely addressed by combining Internet of Things with data management and analytics technologies and processes.

Building upon his laboratory work developing photovoltaic and fuel cell systems, creating Bayesian risk models for aerospace systems, and leveraging data analytics into new business opportunities, Joseph will continue his research in Sensor Analytics Ecosystems and making sense of the IoT using a framework of cultural, regulatory, environmental, political and economic factors.

He has been an independent industry analysts and consulting data scientist as DataArchon since 2005. Prior to this, Joseph was the CEO of InterActive Systems and Consulting, Inc, spun off from The Williams Cos. in 2000.

Microservices & IoT Power Panel at @ThingsExpo New York

In this Power Panel at @DevOpsSummit, moderated by Jason Bloomberg, president of Intellyx, panelists Roberto Medrano, Executive Vice President at Akana; Lori MacVittie, Evangelist for F5 Networks; and Troy Topnik, ActiveState's Technical Product Manager; and Otis Gospodnetić, founder of Sematext; peeled away the buzz and discuss the important architectural principles behind implementing IoT solutions for the enterprise. As remote IoT devices and sensors become increasingly intelligent, they become part of our distributed cloud environment, and we must architect and code accordingly. At the very least, you'll have no problem filling in your buzzword bingo cards.

Containers & Microservices Expo to Be Colocated with @ThingsExpo Silicon Valley, November 3-5, 2015 at the Santa Clara Convention Center, CA
SYS-CON Events announced on June 9, 2015 at the Javits Center that the 2nd "Containers & Microservices Conference" will take place November 3-5, 2015, at the Santa Clara Convention Center, Santa Clara, CA, and the "Third Containers & Microservices Conference" will take place June 7-9, 2016, at Javits Center in New York City.

Containers and microservices have become topics of intense interest throughout the cloud developer and enterprise IT communities.

Microservices focuses on the business and technology of the software architecture design pattern, in which complex applications are composed of small, independent processes communicating with each other using language-agnostic APIs.

Containers are not being considered for the first time by the cloud community, but a current era of re-consideration has pushed them to the top of the cloud agenda.

Rather than just stuff an OS into a container, for example, developers and deployers should consider a spectrum of microservices and what they can do.

For basic one-to-one voice or video calling solutions, WebRTC has proven to be a very powerful technology. Although WebRTC’s core functionality is to provide secure, real-time p2p media streaming, leveraging native platform features and server-side components brings up new communication capabilities for web and native mobile applications, allowing for advanced multi-user use cases such as video broadcasting, conferencing, and media recording.
We are reaching the end of the beginning with WebRTC, and real systems using this technology have begun to appear. One challenge that faces every WebRTC deployment (in some form or another) is identity management. For example, if you have an existing service – possibly built on a variety of different PaaS/SaaS offerings – and you want to add real-time communications you are faced with a challenge relating to user management, authentication, authorization, and validation. Service providers will w...
