Urbana-Champaign Campus Designation
University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign is the official local campus designation
When referring to this campus or identifying individual staff or faculty members from this campus, the name "University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign" should be used. Individual offices should use the mailing address of Urbana, Illinois, or Champaign, Illinois, as appropriate. All letterheads, publications, and other documents should so identify this campus. Faculty members are requested to use the campus designation when submitting their names and affiliations for use in conference programs, biographical data, and publications.
The name "University of Illinois" should be reserved for use in those instances when one is referring to the University as a whole, the Board of Trustees, or the central administration of the University.
Acceptable second-reference usages for the campus include Illinois, U of I (for in-state and alumni audiences) and Urbana or the Urbana campus (to distinguish this campus from the Springfield and Chicago campuses).
Further information on suggested uses is located in the Identity Standards Writing Style Guide.
