Sega Enterprises, Ltd. Changes Company Name

Sega takes a step further into the world of network business with its new company name: "Sega Corporation"

Sega Enterprises, Ltd. (Head office: Tokyo; President: Isao Okawa) announced that it has adopted a new name - Sega Corporation - to reinforce its commitments to network entertainment business, effective November 1st, 2000. In concurrence with the above, Sega has changed the company logo from "SEGA(TM)" to "SEGA(R)".

Sega is currently establishing a new business structure by shifting its management resources into the field of network business, in an attempt at creating an entirely new business model befitted for the network society of the coming century.

To this end, various measures have already been taken: Sega has decided to spin off its Software R&D; Division in July and Amusement Facility Operation Division in October this year, in an attempt to improve cost management and aim for community-based business expansions to fulfill market demands. In terms of restructuring within Sega headquarters, the management is currently endeavoring to implement a less-hierarchical structure and to carry out personnel reshuffle, in order to revitalize the company potential and achieve further goals.

Sega's business will be centered around three core businesses: contents business to provide interactive contents like network games utilizing vast software assets and exceptional content development capabilities, network business to provide electronic service in live communities covering narrow and broad band, and amusement business to create relaxing and unique places. To be a high profit company by yielding stable profits with the contents and amusement businesses while establishing the network business, Sega has set its own goal as follows: Sega will become "the world's leading network game service provider" in the year 2003.

With the adoption of a new company name, Sega is ready to start off on a clean slate. Sega Corporation, whose name symbolizes the dawning of a new era for the company, will contribute to the evolution of network entertainment with renewed commitment, continuing into the 21st century.
