Warner Bros. did its big shareholder talk this morning, and took the opportunity to drop some big release date info. The biggest is the studio’s upcoming plans for superhero films, and massive DC movie plans were revealed.
Suicide Squad will be the first DC film to follow Batman v Superman, with a plan for release in 2016. Then things get really big. In 2017 we’ll see Wonder Woman and Justice League, with 2018 bringing The Flash (with Ezra Miller starring) and Aquaman. In 2019 WB plans Shazam and Justice League 2.
Finally, studio head Kevin Tsujihara says there are plans coming together for Cyborg (played by Ray Fisher in Batman v Superman), a Green Lantern reboot, and additional standalone Batman and Superman films. Read More »

Even by comic book superhero standards, Wonder Woman’s classic origin story is an unusual one. Too unusual, apparently, for the big screen.
During a recent appearance, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice producer Charles Roven confirmed his Wonder Woman would be the half-god daughter of Zeus — following the drastically revamped New 52 backstory instead of the original one. Though Zack Snyder wowed San Diego Comic-Con earlier this summer with footage from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, fans were expecting something else. They were expecting an outline of what Warner Bros. has in store for their DC Comics movies over the next few years. Instead, a version of that announcement came a few weeks later when the company announced release dates for nine upcoming DC Comics movies. Unfortunately, those dates were all for untitled films.

The biggest news this week came from Warner Bros, who gave release dates to ten upcoming DC Comics movies through 2020. Nine of those are untitled and the first, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, will be out March 25, 2016. While untitled, we have a pretty good idea what a few of those movies are going to be. Justice League is a lock. Wonder Woman has a good shot. Shazam is a strong possibility and a few others.
Fortunately Dan Fellman, Warner Bros.’ president of domestic distribution, spoke to Entertainment Weekly and said some of the titles will officially be announced later this month. He also commented on the seemingly strange strategy of opening a massive blockbuster in March and teased that Justice League might follow Dawn of Justice quickly. In addition to dating Batman v Superman for March 2016, Warner Bros. has dated not one, but NINE additional DC Comics movies. They’re all untitled for the time being. After last year’s epic Batman v Superman announcement, everyone expects Warner Bros. to give fans tons of big news at Comic-Con this year. We’d already heard pretty definitively that the next bit film, Justice League directed by Zack Snyder, would hit in 2017. Given the casting of characters such as Wonder Woman in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, WB and DC seem to be readying other major superheroes for spin offs. Six Flags Magic Mountain in Valencia, California has announced that they will be closing their iconic roller coaster Colossus on August 16th 2014 after more than 36 seasons of operation. The wooden coaster has been in operation for 36 years, and has appeared in many television shows and movies.
The roller coaster was featured in the opening credit sequence of the TV series Step By Step (the Lambert-Foster family rides Colossus) and in National Lampoon’s Vacation as the Walley World roller coaster called Screemy Meemy (although it should be noted that it was not the main metal roller coaster which appeared in this sequence of the film, that coaster is the Magic Mountain Revolution).
The coaster was also featured on tv episodes of Wild & Crazy Kids, Doogie Howser, M.D., Knight Rider, Wonder Woman, and The A-Team. It appeared in other films like the 1982 teen film sex comedy Zapped! starring Scott Baio.
