Nubefy Disrupts How Companies Consume Cloud Services

New Infrastructure as a service company provides visibility, control, management, portability and automation

Hello Eric, thanks for taking the time to answer my questions. Please tell us, what is Nubefy all about and what do you do?

Eric Meyer: Nubefy is a company that provides IT Service Management enabling companies with the visibility, control, management, portability and automation of cloud based infrastructure and applications.

What are you launching at DEMO Fall 2012? What is the biggest challenge you face right now in telling your story and winning over new clients?
Meyer: At DEMO Fall 2012 we launched the beta version of our platform to the public. The biggest focus for us moving forward, now that we are making our platform available to the public, is giving it the exposure it needs. Feedback from Demo so far has been extremely positive, now we just need to spread the word and get more people to experience a new and easier way of consuming cloud services.

Who is your target audience and how do you intend to reach them?

Meyer: We foresee the biggest audience for our product to be the small and medium businesses depending on the market geography. Our product will appeal to companies that have enterprise computing needs but limited IT resources. Companies can most immediately benefit from using our platform as it offers a simplified approach to consuming cloud services and a quicker time to market.

I'd be curious to hear any general thoughts you have on market trends...

Meyer: Cloud computing in the Infrastructure as a service (IaaS) space was a $3.7 billion market in 2011 and is poised to reach $10.5 billion by 2014. Cloud management software alone is forecasted to reach $2.5 billion by 2015. The impressive forecasted growth of this market demonstrates the need companies currently have to regain control over the infrastructure and applications they choose to host in the cloud. Nubefy will be there to fulfill that need.

What is the viral aspect of your product?

Meyer: Our product is an enterprise product so I am not certain it needs a viral component. What we will be offering is an attractive marketing referral program that should accelerate our market penetration.

How will you make money? What's the business model?

Meyer: Our platform will be available on a subscription-based SaaS model. Later this year as we reach general availability for our platform, we will be adopting additional revenue models particularly with as it relates to our partner network of system integrators and local telecommunications companies, where our platform will become available as OEM/White label.

Who are your competitors? How do you differentiate from your competitors?

Meyer: There are a few companies of the likes of RightScale or ScaleExtreme in our industry that offer components similar to ours. That said, no company today is providing the holistic approach to IT lifecycle management we are via our platform. Our offering is unique as it not only addresses cloud hosted infrastructure but extends into the application management layer.

How does your technology differentiate from the competition and can you elaborate on the different technology deployed?

Meyer: Nubefy adopts a unique approach with a component architecture that allows us to easily scale to the needs of our business. Our platform differentiates itself by making it agnostic of the underlying virtualization technologies. This provides our customers the ability to seamlessly leverage the cloud providers of their choice, portability of data and ultimately high-availability of cross-cloud solutions.

What business or technology could yours disrupt?

Meyer: We anticipate the release of our product to drastically improve how companies think of cloud computing. It not only facilitates the consumption of cloud services but also provides for a level of price transparency and cost predictability not previously offered in the market.

Who founded the company, when? What can you tell me about the story of the company's founding?

Meyer: Christopher Bousigues, VP of Business Development, and I, founded Nubefy in early 2011. Together we have a combined work experience of 35+ years and held relevant roles relating to cloud computing and datacenter management. The company was created with the aim of bridging the gaps the founding team identified when using cloud computing. Initial efforts were geared towards streamlining the provisioning process of deploying cloud infrastructure but quickly expanded to include a wide ecosystem of popular cloud providers and the management of the application layer.

What is your distribution model? Where to buy your product?

Meyer: Our product is available online on our website and through our partners in a SaaS model. To register for an account simply visit www.nubefy.com

What's next on your product roadmap?

Meyer: We have an extensive product roadmap spanning over 3 years. Upcoming product features will include cross-cloud portability and load-balancing as well support for private cloud environments (VMWare, Citrix and Zen) to name only but a few.

Are you targeting a first VC round? If yes when and what will you use the funds for? How much money is being sought?

Meyer: Nubefy was awarded a competitive grant from the Singapore government early in its development and has already secured seed funding. Next, the company will be seeking a series A funding round in the next 6 to 9 months for an amount 7 to 10 million. The funds will be used towards accelerating product development, expanding activities and supporting a global go to market strategy.

What else would you like to add?

Meyer: Nubefy is a Singapore-based company that recently opened offices in Europe via its France office. To serve the North American market, Nubefy will be incorporated in the United States by the end of 2012.

Please tell us about Nubefy Partnerships, collaborations or affiliations:

Meyer: Some of our technology partners include: Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Rackspace, GoGrid, Flexiant, SAP, VMWare and Citrix to name a few.

Alliance partners include: Microsoft Bizspark and Rackspace startup program.

Industry affiliations are: OpenStack, Open Cloud Manifesto, Open Virtualization Alliance and Cloud Standards Customer Council.
