BAE Systems is partnering with the Open Information Security Foundation (OISF) to provide cost-effective, open source software solutions that are free to the public.
OISF is a non-profit foundation organized to build open source Intrusion Detection and Prevention solutions. BAE Systems, a leading systems integrator, will partner with OISF to develop and sustain open source IT and cybersecurity solutions.
“As a Platinum Level Consortium Member, BAE Systems helps us meet customer system integration needs and positions us to provide cost-effective full life-cycle support for OISF open source solutions,” said Matt Jonkman, president of the OISF. "Strong partnerships between government, industry, and the open source community are drivers for the best overall network security solutions."
OISF is partially funded by the U.S. Navy's Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command and the Department of Homeland Security’s Directorate for Science and Technology Homeland Open Security Technology program. Additional funding is provided by a number of private companies that form the OISF Consortium. BAE Systems is the first systems integrator to partner with OISF.
“In addition to being a systems integrator, we develop a number of innovative IT and cybersecurity software solutions,” said Leigh Palmer, vice president of Advanced Programs for BAE Systems Information Technology Cybersecurity Solutions (ITCS) business. “Contributing our own intellectual property to OISF provides us with an economical new way to support our customers and provide them with access to critical network protection solutions.”
BAE Systems ITCS business develops, deploys and maintains mission applications focused on information sharing, knowledge management and enhanced enterprise mission IT solutions for the national and defense intelligence communities. The ITCS business also provides analytics, cyber analysis and real-time network forensics.
