Helping businesses mobilise data from SharePoint, Dynamics AX, NAV and CRM or
WebSphere
London, 4 July 2012 - United Planet (www.unitedplanet.com), one of the
leading developers of enterprise portal software in Europe, will be releasing
its new Intrexx Business Adapter for OData later this summer.
The smart interface for OData data sources will enable data from all software
systems and Internet services that use OData as their foundation to be
incorporated into Web applications and enterprise portal processes, quickly
and without any additional programming. This will increase the speed at which
data from Microsoft SharePoint, Dynamics ERP and CRM, IBM WebSphere and other
systems can be made available on any smartphone and other mobile devices.
Axel Wessendorf, managing director of United Planet, explains: "Providers of
software solutions and Internet services are inc... (more)
In a blow to SAS's efforts to litigate competitor and low-cost SAS clone WPS
out of existence, the European Union High Court has ruled that programming
languages can't be copyrighted. SAS Institute (Cary, NC) had claimed that the
WPS software — which allows users to process SAS data files and SAS "data
step" scripts without SAS software — breached SAS's copyright in its
re-implementation of SAS functionality. But given that WPS did not study SAS
source code, and merely reimplemented its interfaces and behaviour based on
observation, the court ruled that this was not a violation. ... (more)
International Data Corporation, in conjunction with Microsoft, recently
announced research that suggested that by 2015, the cloud will add 14 million
jobs across the globe. It’s safe to say that we’ve crossed the chasm
(thanks Geoffrey), at least in terms of acceptance of the cloud as the way
businesses will use technology in the future.
The question is no longer, “Are you in the cloud?” But rather, “What
are you using it for?”
Unfortunately, just when we think people are starting to “get” the cloud,
a new level of confusion is being introduced by the cloud providers

Among other NoSQL databases there is a particularly nice one called REDIS.
It’s an open source and advanced key-value store database. What is meant by
‘advanced’ here? Redis keys can contain
strings, hashes, lists, sets and sorted sets on which you can run atomic
operations. It also works with an in-memory dataset, supports master slave
replication and is equally useful for tiny projects running on a single VPS
as it is for huge services running across dozens of servers.
But we are not going to discuss the features of Redis here, because those are
already well covered in many other ... (more)

Cloud computing is a technology that has rapidly evolving peppered with a lot of hype along the way. Customers find it hard to navigate through this and make sense of what aspects of this technology will give them real business benefit.
Cloud Computing Bootcamp, led by our 2012 Bootcamp Instructor Larry Carvalho, is a great way to get a practical understanding of this technology. We offer multiple days of actionable insight into what vendor offerings are currently available and help you comprehend their strategy.
The ever-popular Bootcamp, which is now held regularly around the world, is being held in conjunction with the 10th Cloud Expo, June 11-14, 2012, at the Javits Center, New York, NY. Reads: 6,070 By Larry Bettino Did you know that ninety percent of the data in the world has been created in the last two years? Every day, we create 2.5 quintillion (or 2.518) bytes of data, according to IBM.
As corporations across all industries globally are struggling with how to retain, aggregate and analyze this mounting volume of what the industry refers to as Big Data, it also provides a unique opportunity for innovative startups that recognize the business prospects Big Data presents. Big Data is not just unlocking new information but new sources of economic and business value.
Interactivity is driving Big Data, with people and machines both consuming and creating it. Digital companies focused on becoming good at aggregating and analyzing the data created by the end users of their product, who then provide their customers with solid insights taken from that data are at a distinct competitive advantage over others in the marketplace. It joins the ranks of terms including: grid computing, utility computing, virtualization, clustering, etc.
Cloud computing overlaps some of the concepts of distributed, grid and utility computing, however it does have its own meaning if contextually used correctly. The conceptual overlap is partly due to technology changes, usages and implementations over the years.
Trends in usage of the terms from Google searches shows Cloud Computing is a relatively new term introduced in the past year. There has also been a decline in general interest of Grid, Utility and Distributed computing.
Likely they will be around in usage for quit a while to come. But Cloud computing has become the new buzz word driven largely by marketing and service offerings from big corporate players like Google, IBM and Amazon.
