Amsterdam, the Netherlands and Malmö, Sweden - June 8, 2012
Hitron Technologies Inc. ® (TAIEX: 2419), a leading supplier of DOCSIS products, and Anyfi Networks AB, a leading provider of Wi-Fi mobility solutions, today announced that they will jointly demonstrate Anyfi.net technology integrated in a DOCSIS 3.0 eMTA at the ANGA Cable trade show in Cologne, Germany, June 12-14.
Anyfi.net technology lets an Internet Service Provider leverage existing Wi-Fi assets, such as Wi-Fi equipped cable modems, to create mobile Wi-Fi services with unparalleled security and ease of use. "We call it ZERO sign-on because there is really nothing your subscribers need to do to connect" explained Johan Almbladh, CTO of Anyfi Networks. "With Anyfi.net you can use credentials that are already stored in the mobile device, e.g. the home WPA passphrase, for authentication. From a user's point of view it's like their own home Wi-Fi is everywhere and their device just automatically connects."
Anyfi and Hitron have worked closely together to integrate Anyfi's software in Hitron's DOCSIS 3.0 Wireless Gateway. By leveraging the advanced functionality of the Hitron hardware platform Anyfi's engineers have been able to implement spectrum aware traffic prioritization. "The hardware can provide detailed information about how much Wi-Fi radio spectrum each user, mobile or residential, is consuming" explained Johan Almbladh. "Our software uses this information to decide what is the best way to divide the available bandwidth between mobile users, and to ensure that the owner of the gateway is never in any way impacted by a visitor. The residential subscriber is always prioritized above all mobile users. This is key to using existing Wi-Fi assets for mobile Wi-Fi services, or to offload a 3G network."
"It has been a pleasure to work with Anyfi, offering our customers a wider range of Wi-Fi features that they may select to deploy. Anyfi's solution is unique in that it allows subscribers to reach their home network from any place in the network as if they were at home" remarked Rudy Zijlstra, CTO of Hitron Europe.
The demonstration will be on display at Hitron's booth at the ANGA Cable Exhibition (level 10.1 booth R29) all day June 12-14 or by appointment. More information about the demonstrated solutions is available at http://www.anyfinetworks.com/about/solutions.
