Several months later, Apple introduced their first flash-based iPod, the iPod shuffle. The company clearly had budget-minded buyers and fitness buff in mind with the Shuffle. The tiny device,resembling a USB thumb drive, lacked a screen of any sort and instead encouraged users to "shuffle" through their libraries. The Shuffle offered a mechanical control pad not unlike that found on the original iPod.
