iPad 2 in my hands: trumps iPad 3March 30, 2012 by

Finally convinced myself to buy an iPad. 14 days after the launch of the New iPad, I reluctantly could not convince myself to buy one. That's right, my posoined apple of choice is the iPad 2. Thanks to recent reviews on IGN and CNet.com, I was able to purchase the one year old iPad 2 and still go home feeling proud of myself, which IS NOT what Apple wants at all. Why did this happen? Well, this is the first post Steve Jobs device to hit the consumer market.

The price was a huge confident boosted when I walked into Best Buy earlier this week. $650 all in and I walked away with a 32GB WiFi iPad 2, smart cover and 2 year warranty (only bought it because it covers the battery and screen).

The new iPad is $519 CA for just the base 16GB WiFi tablet. However, everyone should know by now that 16GB on the New iPad is not the same as 16GB on the iPad 2. Incase you are new to this claim, I'll gladly fill you in. As soon as you plug in your iPad to your computer, you will be surprised to see that your available storage is not what you thought. I bought a 32GB iPad 2 and without adding any addition information than the iOS running the tablet, only 28GB we're available for storage of music, videos and whatever else I wanted. That's a 4GB loss just run the iOS. Ouch. Well, you get the picture. Moving forward, the new iPad apps use more space to support the retina display.

That alone adds up to one sad fact. The new iPad 16GB storage is less then the iPad 2's 16GB storage. Suomi bought a 32GB just to make the most of my money. And it was still cheaper then the new iPad 16GB!!!

Final Uncharted 3: Drakes Deception Review for PlayStation 3November 8, 2011 by

Final Uncharted 3: Drakes Deception Review for PlayStation 3 (obviously)

Rating: 9.8 out of 10

Every good story needs a strong successor. But was Uncharted 3 the perfect follow up to Uncharted 2? I'm on the fence, and its leaning to no. I'm really sorry to say it. It even hurts to say it.

Each game that follows the next has a stronger following and bigger anticipation then the last, obviously, so its painful when they don't live up to the hype. Am I saying Uncharted's latest adventure was a flop, HELL NO! Just not better than its big brother!

I'm done ripping a chunk out of this game. All in all the game was great. Great narrative, great action, great suspense and an all around fun adventure!

It merits a 9.8 out of 10 because the beginning and end of this game do not live up to the standards of its two earlier games. I don't want to let out too many spoilers but from my point of view, I felt like the game just ended, as if the writers just ran out of steam and closed the game were it was. Maybe its my fault for playing the game in intervals, that could have broken up the over all experience. But no one can truly hope that gamers sit through the whole campaign in a single bound, and usually thats a really short game. A lot of things happened, no spoilers, but it never really felt like it all came together. The title of the game is perfect however, but the whole importance of Drake and Nate's rings seemed to get buried under everything else.

I bet anyone reading this has already beat the campaign, but I am not trying to lay out any spoilers, so I apologize if this is a dull read.  I do believe the IGN.com did a far better job then I did reviewing this game, purely because I am intact bias. I really love this franchise, along with a few others, and they really make the PlayStation 3 console everything it is as exclusive titles. But a small part of that love dies when these games fall anything less than perfect like the titles that came before.

This may be me venting... you have been warned!!

Rating: 0 out of 10

Yesterday was all to ecstatic to preach the good news about my new PlayStation 3 Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception Edition console purchase. I got home, unboxed the console, cables, controller, game and instruction manuals. Threw the manuals out, of course. Voted against using the new console and just unwrapped the game to play in the old beastly PlayStation 3.

I then wrote my intensive review on Uncharted 3 and headed back to work.

When I got home later that evening, I took out the new console and connected it to my old one. Following the instructions on the screen I proceeded transferring the data from one console to the other. IT IS NOT A FUN TASK.

Besides both consoles being on, and plugged in to the tv, you have to preform two separate tasks on each back and forth to set up the transfer properly.

MAKE IT EASIER!

Technology has come such a far way in the last decade and things can never be as easy as.. click, press, and go!

Do this, then that, then something different, but go back 6 steps to achieve this desired outcome or else, and don't forget about this step, now do something like this on the other console to desired outcomes.. MY GOD!!!

oh and it takes about 2.5 hours to transfer completely after it fails a half doesn't time..

Total amount of time spend on the data transfer: 7 hours

Total amount of information transferred: 60 Gigabytes

Average transfer speed: 8.57 GB / hour

FUCKING DIAL-UP SPEEDS with a gigabit ethernet direct connection..

Sony, step up your game!

Oh.. I could have always done a back up of the old PS3 on an external hard drive and then loaded it on the new PS3, but some information is copyright protected and can only be directly transferred. That's horse shit.

Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception review for PlayStation 3

Rating: 9.9 out of 10

After a long wait and 2 minutes at Wal-mart, Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception is finally in my possession. Well, I may have gone a little over board and purchased the Uncharted 3 PlayStation 3 Bundle. I did some lousy rationalizing, bad math, and well selfish reasoning and blew my budget my a whole $300 and change. But you aren't reading this just to hear about my poor logic and fancy new 320GB PS3 console, you came for the game review; and here it is.

UNBELIEVABLY AMAZING!!! Now go read IGN's official review cause I won't do this game any justice and BUY the god damn game!!!

OH.. I should explain the 9.9 out of 10. I may be a little hard on the game and please feel free to disagree with me, but I found Uncharted 2: Among Thieves intro to be a little more catching then it's successor. I have only played 1 1/2 hours into the campaign, so there may be events about to unfold to win my heart. However, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves was a new standard in gaming for me.

I will write a second review for this game after I complete the campaign.

(I suggest playing this game on normal or hard difficulty rather than easy or lower as to enjoy the game to its fullest).

Battlefield 3 Review for PlayStation 3October 28, 2011 by

BATTLEFIELD 3 Review for the Playstation 3

Rating: 4 out of 10

Just picked up Battlefield 3 this afternoon for the PlayStation 3, and without going too far into a uproar and shit storm of how I may have been ripped off at a retail value of $60, I do want to say that the new Frostbite 2 game engine is everything it was made out to be.

With that said. This is not the game you were promised. With major game glitches like lag and cross hair shutter, the game has one too many problems to keep praise of the outstanding graphics. Too many times did I have the enemy in my sites just for my cross hair to skip off my enemy, leading me to fire unsuccessfully at my target. After about 40 minutes into the campaign it became very clear that the good 'ol spray and pray method was my only chance of survival. Forsaking the thrill of a great shooter, Battlefield 3 has perfected the button mashing first person shooter.

One positive of the campaign, too many will convey inevitable frustration, is your untimely death at the hand of the enemy over and over and over. The game is completely realistic, besides that fact you can regenerate health, so if you get shot in the head, you die. If the enemy launches a rocket at the car you are using for cover, you die. It's a challenge to stay alive, and that I might add, is a major PLUS in comparison to other FPS of its time.(HOWEVER, when you can't seem to shoot your enemy due to constant glitches.. then yes, be a mad your death toll flourishes)

Moving forward from the campaign, which was already its downfall from more serious reviewers at IGN.com, I took a shot at the Battlefield franchise famous multiple maps. Breathtaking visuals and 24 player shoot 'em up frenzies awaited me. Once your character spawns, you immediately feel the full force of the Frostbite 2 graphics and 5.1 surround sound audio. You know this game was designed for its multiplayer, if it would work. More problems arose when opponents ran past me avoiding my bullets because lag inevitably stole all the excitement from each game. Melee attacks became impossible and long shots were a constant non success.

Now, in the developers defence, DICE, already stated upon release that there would be multiple patches for each platform; PC, PS3 and XBOX 360 to address each issue as they occurred.

Doesn't that just sound like a pile of horse shit? Are you saying that myself and the rest of the Battlefield fans must spend $60 for an incomplete game?

Sounds a lot like the deal many Call of Duty fans faced with the PC and PS3 release of Black Ops. To which they were in the process of being sued for releasing an incomplete game and charging full price. Should this be the case for DICE's Battlefield 3?
