We've been waiting 30 years for this. And now it's arrived: Missile Command the movie.
Variety is reporting that the classic video game, which debuted in the arcade in 1980, is being developed as a film property by Twentieth Century Fox.
Burk Sharpless and Matt Sazama -- whose names would seem to indicate that they're refugees from a 1930s serial (and who actually wrote the Flash Gordon reboot) -- will adapt the game for Chernin Entertainment. Atari's Jim Wilson will executive-produce.
Atari also has Asteroids in the works at Universal and Rollercoaster Tycoon at Sony Pictures Animation.
