Diablo III is the third iteration in the mega-blockbuster franchise from Blizzard Entertainment. It is a fantasy/horror action rpg that maintains the core elements of the first two games. Diablo III was first announced on June 28, 2008 and will ship on May 15, 2012 [1]. Diablo 3 has been confirmed for Mac and PC.
Diablo III takes place two decades after Diablo, Mephisto, and Baal have tortured the world of Sanctuary in Diablo II. When Deckard Cain returns to the Tristram Cathedral for the first time, something from the sky crashes down where Diablo once entered the world and awakens these ancient evils once again.
On August 17, 2011 A new Inferno game mode was announced. It will be more difficult than the Hell difficulty of previous games and will feature exclusive items that will be obviously different in looks.

On August 15, 2011 Blizzard announced that a playable invite only beta will launch in September. They will invite people through their Battle.net accounts. Want to be a part of the beta? Login to your Battle.net account (or create one) and opt in via the beta profile settings in your account management. [2]
On 2012 March 9, in an online blog, Diablo 3's PvP will not ship with the game at launch, but will be added on later as a patch due to a lack of development time.
