Marvel.com revealed today that Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will be reissuing Sam Rami's original Spider-trilogy to Blu-ray on June 12, 2012.

The new discs will feature brand-new "collectible" packaging, a movie money redemption code to see The Amazing Spider-Man (out July 3, 2012), two completely new bonus features (plus classic extras previously not available on Blu-ray), and an Ultraviolet cloud streaming digital copy for each title.

Unfortunately, no word yet on whether these reissues will boast remastered audio and video. The previous Spider-Man Blu-ray releases were a little spotty, with inconsistent audio specs and varying transfer quality. With some luck that will change with these new discs. It also seems some bonus features are missing from Spider-Man 3, most notably all the features on the second disc from the initial Blu-ray release. Hopefully that will change once Sony makes this release offical. If not, you might want to hold on to that disc. As always, we'll see.

Thoughts on the new "collectible" Blu-ray box art?
